Confused from Cheshunt writes: The European Athletics Championships are coming to the UK in 2026! The biggest athletic event since the Olympics (with apologies to the Commonwealth Games) comes to these shores from 10 to 16 August. This will obviously be held at the biggest athletics stadium in the country, the London Stadium which will.... oh hang on a minute. No, it's at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. Capacity 18,000 which apparently can go to over 30,000 with extra temporary seating. Might we ask why? Isn't this the best potential revenue earning opportunity for British Athletics for ..... a long time? Or did one of those redacted clauses (let's face it, most of the contract with West Ham was redacted) say that it's use for athletics is superseded if it's needed for football? Is this because they'd rather have the 3p rent they're getting from Wet Spam than a week of a full capacity 60,000 crowds? Does it depend on when the season starts? Be interested to hear the official explanation, and not suspect dodgy dealing.
Touchline interviews with substituted players and camera access to dressing rooms are set to feature in Premier League TV coverage next season: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c1k84zyml2no **** off with that ****. Awful.
Just cooked a ribeye steak for Mrs Conn and me, It was as good as the Lucas hat trick in Amsterdam, or it could be the Malbec that I downed sitting in the sun listening to John Martyn , have a good weekend chaps
Looking forward to the first time a subbed player twats the dickhead who thinks it's a wise idea to stick a microphone in their face as they come off the pitch
John Martyn had a house in a neighbouring village here in Scotland that he apparently won in a card game. Much to the annoyance of some in this quiet rural place as wild parties followed
Interview the officials, including the VAR. Make the ****ers answer difficult questions, or remove them from the roster for a while. Then, I'll turn the sound on the TV back on.
I love the story true or not that Martyn,Danny Thompson and Phil Collinns along with other band members were in a Pub and handed the landlord a wad of cash , when asked what it was for they replied , the damage, you have not caused any damage! We've not finished yet was the reply
The BBC are reportedly offering Wayne Rooney £800k a year to be the new MOTD host ...well that's new: for the first time ever I felt nostalgia for ITV's Premier League coverage
I think its just to be the main pundit, it will be hosted by one of Kelly Cates, Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman on a weekly basis
Rooney's sort of alright, I guess. He's just been picked for name recognition, though. He's not insightful, charismatic or eloquent enough to be worth that money. Most of the top players are quite **** as pundits. Shearer's dreadful. Owen's shocking.
Keep the moaners happy. They’d rather have an ex pro than someone who is insightful, charismatic or eloquent. It’s rare you get someone who is both
TBH, you keep the moaners happy by not having Eni Aluko onscreen I can't think of any two very specific reasons why the Gammonati really don't like her...
She might genuinely be the worst pundit going though… and we live in a world with Danny Murphy and Michael Owen doing punditry.
I definitely remember them kicking off when she was first announced as a pundit, long before she ever said anything Or tweeted anything, for that matter
It's basically just name recognition, unfortunately. At least Micah Richards is funny. I'm hoping that Andros Townsend gets a decent chance when he retires. He's decent. Fergie's Man Utd have produced a load of ****e. I'll give Keane an out for being miserable and angry, but that's it. Ferdinand, Owen, Scholes, Hargreaves, Neville since Valencia sacked him... ****ing useless. Dion Dublin sort of suits doing the BBC on Saturdays, especially the lower leagues.
Regardless of her sex and skin colour, she’s terrible. I couldn’t care less about their background but does feel like some are there purely to tick boxes.
She is terrible, I agree, but she's there for the same reasons as a lot of them, in my opinion. Her profile as a player was very high for a woman footballer. That's rare. I used to drink in a pub where Kelly Smith would pop into sometimes. It was fairly popular with Arsenal fans and nobody would recognise her. 117 caps for England, 46 goals and about a decade with the filth. Who?
