I never knew this until recently but most signing on fees aren't signing on fees but loyalty payments split over the term of the contract and paid at the start of each season for the player staying with the club

Getting Mehlem and Abdus Omur off the wage bill should give us a bit of leeway, I would hazard a guess that their combined wages would have been £45K + per week. Joao Pedro must have been on a high wage as well - probs £20K + per weeks as he came on a free.

Will we be contributing to Abdus’s wage, as he’s only gone on loan? The worst situation for a club with cash flow issues.

Not sure but if we never got a loan fee they might have agreed to pay all his wage that could be possible.

I mean he could if he wanted to try that with the Zambrano deal since he honoured the deal with Quito and still paid the wage contribution for him even though he was banned, agree with Quito to pay Zambrano’s wage for 18 month or less depending on the result of the restriction then buy him after it ends, why would Quito do that well he is still banned till nov won’t be fit till January probably and we stuck by the player throughout.

AFAIK the last Baz said on it was that we weren't looking to offload, but if a decent offer came in we'd look at it.

But I guess that's the same for a lot of the squad

I used to watch Antalyaspor a bit when Şahin was coach over there. Even after they sold Haji Wright, they weren’t a particularly wealthy club with a lot of spending power. I would be surprised if they’re paying more than 50% of Ömür’s salary. They barely invested the money from selling Wright and usually rely on loans and free transfers.

Very likely, they seem to have financial issues
Antalyaspor has 469 million TRY budget limit this year, which is less than 10M euros, this amount covers entire squad + staff expenses.+ agent + transfer amounts.

So considering, we are probably still paying more than half of Abdus' salary.

That guy spending money on Sahin, Haji Wright, Nasri, Eto'o etc. at Antalyaspor as president, is the owner of Bodrumspor now. He was funding it by arranging sponsorship deals via his hotels.

And it's such a ridiculous waste because Ömür is a bloody good player and should've been a great signing.

He's the kind of player who teams like Brentford sign and turn into elite, goalscoring attackers over two or three years and then sell for a massive profit. Whereas we give them three or four months and then give up on them, loan them out and buy someone else.

The deal for Ömür had so many clauses too. I suppose it’s the only way we could’ve got him. £2.5 million fee + another £2.5 million if we get promoted to the Premier League + 50% sell-on clause on profit + 5% sell-on clause on any transfer fee we sell him for regardless of profit.

I think the deal for Allahyar had similar clauses. Even though we sold him to Westerlo for a loss, Fenerbahçe may still have been entitled to some of that transfer fee.

For player like Omur, you need a team that plays mostly around opponent area, with lots possession. He doesn't possess a good pace neither physical strength, not suitable for running around, neither defending, but his agility, acceleration and technique is great in tight spaces.

They didn't sign him though did they?

Look, I agree he was a better player than we saw this last season under Tim Wa**er, but even the Rosenior season and the seasons at his past club, there wasn't enough end product for elite interest to materialise.

Otherwise he'd be playing for a Brighton or Brentford

I think he did run around under Rosenior. LR was big on the front four pressing and he trusted Ömür to start every week for him. I also like that he goes up for every header even though he's unlikely to win it. Too many attacking players shy away from aerial challenges because it isn't their strength.
