I-phones

Sorry if there's already a thread for this, if so please move.
I'm wondering whether to change from an Android to i-phone and was wondering if there's much difference?
Anyone using one now?
The one i'm looking at is the 16e, any good?

I just left apple due to Data reasons government has requested apple release encrypted data they hold on customers so i switched to galaxy s25 or my kids picked it out for me.

The UK government has requested Apple to provide access to encrypted data stored by users on iCloud, specifically through a Technical Capability Notice (TCN) issued under the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA). This demand has sparked controversy, with privacy advocates and some governments raising concerns about potential breaches of user privacy and the precedent it might set. Apple, in response, has reportedly removed Advanced Data Protection (ADP) from the UK market, which is an optional feature that encrypts user files on iCloud.

 

I flit from Samsung to iPhone every couple of years or so and other than a short adjustment period find Android and Apple equally intuitive and straightforward to use.

Like changing from one car to another, for a while you put the windscreen wipers on when you're intending to turn left but you soon get used to things.

 

I have both an iPhone (personal use) and an android (work phone). Each has their own quirks but there isn’t really much difference when all is said and done. I think iPhones are a bit more intuitive but that’s probably because I’m more used to them.

 

Made the same move a couple of years back with no regrets. Apps work better/smoother in my limited experience of the apple ecosystem.

 

I have android but those that have apple never seem to have and power and the battery seems rubbish, don't know if it really is but seems to be.

 

I find Iphones much easier to use than androids.

 

Never had an Iphone, nor would I; tax dodging Yank ****s get not a penny of mine, I doubt they notice but, **** 'em anyway - my daughters prefer to them Android if that helps?

 

I’ve got an older iPhone an X best phone I’ve ever had, completely up to date and the battery life is still almost 90 percent.

 

I’ve had iPhones for over 10 years and have always been happy with them.
Was given an android phone for work and had it for a couple of years but just couldn’t get to grips with it, so eventually they gave me an iPhone too, which of course makes life easier but I still only use it for work and have my own for everything else. Can’t see any reason why I would change, although I know plenty of people who have the opposite view. It’s what you like and what you get used to.

 

I use i phone because I have built up a large amount of music on I Tunes which I don’t want to lose . My wife has android and the battery life and the camera quality seem far superior to the I Phone I have noticed

 

If you use your phone for almost everything i find my Samsung better for filling in forms and documents because there is a option to turn it into a desktop, something that is not available on iPhone, many a time if my wife is having difficulty with such things I can do it on my android phone other than that they are both great.

 

I'm pretty comfortable using 'jollyphones'....

 

You get all kinds of fancy widget, features and super pixel cameras etc on android but in terms of user interface iPhones are much easier to use and less complicated.

 

I have an iPhone and it’s become an absolute weight around my neck. I’m considering selling it and buying a JCB Tradesman. It runs android and still has maps, podcast and WhatsApp but it’s got a traditional keypad and smaller screen. You can still use some social media apps but the screen is too small to make it really functional

 

It is a case of getting used to the phone .
I went from Samsung to Pixel phones and for 3 months kept saying I'm going back to Samsung .
I got used to the swiping everything and I'm sticking with them I now prefer them .

 

I’ve used iPhones for years so it’s probably just habit now. No idea what Android ones are like, but iPhones are intuitive and sync well with iPads and MacBooks of course

 

I think you get used to whatever you've got but personally I don't like the thought of being drawn into the Apple ecosystem so I'll stick with android thanks!

Having said that, as an old git, I don't need or want to do a lot of the clever stuff I know Apple is good at, if I was younger I'd probably think differently.

 

I have android. Daughters & wife have i phones, and I'm the one they turn to when things go wrong or they can't get something to work as it should.
From experience of both (and Windows phones ) it's Android all day long for me. By a country mile.
Couple of caveats.....
If you've bought into the (rip off) Apple ecosystem and use macs instead of windows pc's, i pad and i phones then choosing i phones of course make more sense. I doubt you are a designer or power user though .
Secondly, that the UI some android makers put on top of android can add a bit of unnecessary complication. That's partly why I stick with google pixel phones. Good phones, good camera, plain android. Everything is straightforward. There's been some very good deals lately on 9's & 9 pros (price cut and enhanced trade in). 8a is now very decent value if you don't want to go with latest 9a, 9 or 9 pro.
