If we get €10m for him then that is what we paid for him. Obviously paid his wages for a while but we might roughly break even when you factor in the loan fee and them covering his wages for a season.
In my opinion, no. He wasn't even a regular starter for a bottom of the table team last season (20 from 38 games). What clubs are buying is potential and as you say it's only the clubs that can afford to invest and wait, the big 6 mainly, that are likely to pay anywhere near what we are asking for him and the competition for places in their XIs will be fierce.
// The ‘big six’ (are we still counting Spurs in that?) a more successful club like Villa or Newcastle could nowadays stump up plus £35m-45m. Even Brighton - if their computer say ‘yes’ could compete.
It rarely happens as they want them in their academy or group of clubs for city/Chelsea, but if we could sell for £45m and get him loaned back for a season that would be brilliant. Extremely unlikely I'll admit.
I agree with this. I just feel Dibling is tailor made for Spurs. Not convinced he is good enough for a top five club but Dibling strikes me as exactly the kind of player Spurs fans love. He would be wasting his talent being kicked to pieces in the Championship. He would also be better coached at Spurs . I think our best players will be sold for top dollar in August and maybe too late fir Saints to reinvest.
Last time we sold about £180m and spent about £25m from memory. We shouldn’t need to spend loads to be competitive this year even if the 3 I listed leave. We probably are looking at a similar amount in sales I think, the loans we get will be key.
Only because they absolutely don’t have the funds so it would be unsettling for them to approach and not get close to a valuation but weirdly there are several saints fans across the various fan boards who seem utterly fixated on the idea that players will want to leave us because previous managers chose not to play them and/or sent them out on loan. Gossip pages don’t seem to factor this in mind. Edozie was sent away by Martin for the premier league. Could be seen as the ultimate lack of faith
It’s rangers so they won’t (be able to). They probably won’t even be able to pay his standard valuation. Let alone overpay
Well, if it starts a bidding war, so be it. I'm happy for Edozie to stay, but I'm equally happy to get a half decent fee for him if we have somebody else lined up.
I looked the other day when they were linked to Downes and pretty sure they haven’t paid more than £6m for a player in like 20 years. So yeah seems unlikely they will be signing anyone from us. Maybe someone like Smallbone, Aribo or Manning we’d accept that sort of fee but whether they would have any of them as their marquee signing seems unlikely
Please be Aribo. Almost certain they won't be signing any Irish internationals from us. Not sure many of those have ever played for Rangers.
