maybe or a decent loan, but this current squad as it stands right now doesnt have enough to stay up without a half decent striker from somewhere.
Even better to come back from injury, if they can get the restriction down to one window then we should have enough to carry us to Jan.
If we do have financial problems I also suspect Hughes and Pandur (as our two most saleable assets) would be getting looked at by other clubs.
You mean this same squad who avoided relegation on goal difference last season And don't blame injuries as we could very easily get them again
I guess it depends on whether we’d get the money up front or not. There might come a time when we need a quick injection of cash so end up selling someone on the cheap. Hope not and there is something else we are waiting to filter through.
I suspect that if we get a significant offer for any player, they'll be gone, I don't think we've got much option. I wouldn't bank on any reduction in the penalty either.
As this thread is about the transfer embargo, could we not have a separate thread for the racism apologists?
i know this has probably been discussed but i zone out on financial discussion usually as i have to do all that at home and football supposed to be an escape,, ha , but where has all the Money gone from sales like Greaves, Philogene, etc i know we spunked a lot of wages on people like Sinik, Giles, etc....but really that Much? how much were the loan fees we payed for the likes of Delap and Carvalho,
Unfortunately, other clubs will know we are strapped for cash and will make silly offers for the player they want. We won't get market value in this scenario
At least he's bought and paid for... Hopefully get £55k for him in the fire sale,it'll pay for Acuns fuel when he comes over for the next Q&A
That's one of the maddest things about all this; on the face of it we haven't even spent all that much. Our accounts for the 23/24 season when we supposedly spent a lot showed that our wage and amortisation costs were less than a few teams who finished below us. We didn't spend top 6 money. We don't have the figures for last season yet, those might be the bad ones. We bought a lot of players late on in the window, probably out of desperation as we'd completely failed to build a squad over the summer. But as you say, you'd think those were financed by the big sales we made.
There will be people that will try to spin this as a positive, as if we can bounce straight back like last time and slingshot our way back up to the top of the champ. As opposed to the reality of getting mired there for years like Bolton, Huddersfield, Reading, Wigan, et al.
