He's been charged by the CPS for 5 counts of rape and 1 sexual assault. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c39zr7y9ep3o Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The offences are reported to have taken place between 2021-2022, the Metropolitan Police said. The charges involve three women with two counts of rape relating to one woman, three counts of rape in connection to a second woman and one count of sexual assault linked to a third woman. Mr Partey's contract with Arsenal ended on Monday after playing with team since 2020. BBC News has contacted the team for comment. ================================================= The reason why I've created a thread is because I'm absolutely livid that the club were so very clearly aware of this for a long time and yet chose to play him, and the fact we were even considering giving him a new contract absolutely blows my mind. They clearly hoped it was going to get brushed under the carpet. A while ago, I said that there was leaked evidence of documentation and conversations that clearly incriminated Partey and that we needed to cut ties asap. Instead we kept him and even entertained new deal talks. It's a bad day to be associated with this club. I hope the women get the justice and healing they need.
Oh God.. not you as well? So you think he shouldn't be played because he was accused of something? If he's found guilty he deserves whatever punishments come his way but ..As I said on the other thread we often talk of the ills of cancel culture. What if he gets proven innocent? you and seemingly half the footballing World have already decided he is a rapist regardless. It's soo silly - we have a justice system for a reason.
I think he shouldn't have played based on the nature of the allegations and the fact that there were multiple allegations of this nature - which calls into question our safeguarding policies as I don't think we fulfilled our responsibility of protecting all employees (including the women and the women's team) at the club. If this was any other industry or office job, he would not get the grace that you are giving him. We should have waited until we knew for sure what was going on. As I said on another thread, footballers probably get accused of all sorts, and most of the time they are hard to prove, but to be charged with 5 counts of rape and 1 of sexual assault by the CPS? They must have some compelling evidence otherwise he would not have been charged. I also saw leaked documents and evidence that was released publicly on Twitter a couple years ago that clearly incriminated Partey and directly mentioned the lawyers and safeguarding team at Arsenal who have been involved in this case. Also, even if he does get acquitted in a court of law, it doesn't necessarily mean he didn't do it - it can also mean the evidence wasn't sufficient to prove it. That's two different things. And in cases of rape/sexual assault, it is notoriously difficult to prove and it's why perpetrators get away with it more often than not. It is also worth noting the justice system in the UK has failed plenty of people before, it is not a faultless system. If Arsenal wanted to play him because he wasn't officially charged, then fine, but we didn't need to offer him a new contract or give him the PR he got or the backing from Arteta he received publicly. Those things were wrong and should not have happened.
This is a nonsense. The nature of allegations should play no bearing. Weather he was accused of Warcrimes or Traffic Offences - nobody should be punished before being found guilty. The ****ed up thing is we all know this to be true. Yet cancel culture has permeated soo deep into society now. A footballers career is normally what 20 years? - your saying he should be missing 15% of his career because he was accused of a crime(s). No the justice system isn't perfect but it's certainly better than the court of public opinion. Most people are after all - pretty stupid. If he's guilty, he's guilty - and deserves to go to jail.
