I’m trying to make our lives easier as I’m sure away games this season will all be sold out. I also believe the home games will be the same, some well over subscribed.

So I’m going to start a group chat, on private messages, for people wanting to help others if there are games they can’t make. I’d ask everyone to be sure to stick to their word even if they find they can no longer take the ticket.

I’ll make my transfer details available for anyone who needs them. I’ll also have to charge booking fees and postage which I've not done in the past. Enough decent people have bought me a pint to cover it, but there’s only so much I can drink <cheers>

If anyone wants adding to the chat for away tickets just stick it on. As you know there are often a few spares, and people who live close to Bournemouth, or wherever, might benefit from any ‘last minute’ tickets.

This’ll either work, or it won’t, and I've not really thought it through as I’m a bit busy with work. The idea is that people won’t be wasting SCs when unavailable, and others may get their chance for games they’d otherwise miss.

We have a good set of reliable people on here and I don’t think it would work on RTG for example, too many weirdos hiding amongst the decent people tbh. Sorry to elect myself but the judge’s decision will be final, and if people deliberately mess anyone about they’ll be excluded in future. I bet this looks pompous, but that’s too bad, if people don’t like the idea they can just ignore it.

Please don’t discuss anything ‘financial’ on the forum.

Let’s see how it goes and what people think.

    Great idea.

I’ll be trying to source away tickets cos I haven’t the points to get into the in demand ones, only went Blackburn last season.

I think it's a great idea @Smug in Boots ,but I think you're letting yourself in for quite a bit of work and potential hassle, which I would worry might curtail your own enjoyment of our season. I don't know you personally, but I know your heart is in the right place with this, please think long and hard about how you could make it work without impacting on you. I don't have to tell you that the offer and demand traffic is going to be massive, match by match, often up until the last minute.
You know what this club is like!!

    Good idea
However I have a host of family and friends in a list to have my ticket when I’m away
I can get tickets from my supporters club for away matches which you are correct and they can be difficult to get
Never the less I get my share if not all that I want
Nevertheless I hope this suggestion you have made works well for the rest of you

Cheers mate, you're quite right that I need to make the most of games I’ve get to. Thing is I’m already on dozens of people’s phones so I have a busy time quite often. I’m only inviting people I know, on here, some of whom I only know from the forum tbf, they're clearly decent posters.

I’m hoping some people will just pass on tickets to people they choose from those asking …

… hopefully I won’t have to be involved unless someone is asking for a bit of guidance.

Thanks for the heads up though, very thoughtful mate.

    Hi Smug
Exciting times for all of us, which will also mean tickets, both home and away will be like hens teeth!
Please count me in when you set up your idea, I hope it works and doesn’t cause you too much stress!

Hi Faraway, it's simple enough mate.

For someone like you, in the far South West, you'll need any spare SCs if you can't get tickets for an SOL game.

Anyone who trusts and knows you, can pass on their unused SC at face value and know they'll be paid.

If anyone doesn't know you they can ask me if you're 'known'.

As you travel from Cornwall for games, and are retired, people will know their SC isn't going to anyone risky or an away fan chancing his arm.

As there's no profit motive it's just to help decent people get tickets if the 'seller' doesn't have anyone they could pass it onto.

I'll put you on the list mate.

Yes, thankfully we've dropped lucky with Burnley and Forest, neither too bad for away travellers.

Palace, on a Friday night, would be difficult.

There’s one away match me and the missus really fancy but we’ve not got the points for and it’s Everton for Bradley Lowry.

This is primarily for home games when people can't use their SCs and are happy to pass them on ...

... but someone with enough points, who isn't travelling, might help you.

I'll be looking at going to Everton but my work sometimes means I have to cancel at short notice ;)

I'm planning on going to every home game, but if something unexpected happens, I'd be happy to pass the tickets onto anyone decent who can use them.

How exactly do you transfer a digital SC to someone? There is a possibility I may be missing the West Ham game.

They either need to have an account on the ticketing site, so you can add them as a linked account to assign them your ticket.

Or you can send them a copy of the QR code.

Both of those options worked last season for me.

Quite new to this forum in terms of posting, but think this is a good idea and would like to help when I can. There was four homes games last season I could not make due to family commitments and my ticket was only used once - down side of a friends group of lads formerly from Hebburn that is a mix of SAFC and mags. The SAFC mates all have season cards already. The once it was used, one of the lads took his Mrs, we lost and played crap, now she’s banned from going. :)

Happy to pass on for home games I can not make. To be honest, if someone wants the ticket, they can have it for nothing as long as it’s used. Cheers

Spot on, smug. Nice one. Is the group just for season ticket holders to let you know they won't be using their ticket or also for folk who want to ask if there is one going spare?

My eldest can just about be trusted to watch a full game now so I need to get him up for his first home game soon and it looks like that's going to be tricky to get sorted.

    It's for both mate.

It just takes it off the forum so there's no prying eyes.

Anyone who wants to pass on, or buy, an SC pass can just post on the group chat.

In that way people can just contact each other and send bank details, passes, etc.

If anyone needs help I'll step in but it'll hopefully be self-policing ... just a shame if tickets are unused when there are decent people trying to go to games.

As you're 'known' to me I'll add you to the private conversation.

I often have a spare junior ticket 'cos my grandson plays football on Saturdays and he can't attend on 'school nights' so I'll have that available most of the time . . . . I like 'a lot of chocolate on my biscuit' so let me join your club, Smug :emoticon-0100-smile

This thread is now a 'sticky' :emoticon-0148-yes:
