Allam Developments Ltd, is far too long and a name change is needed, much like Allam Marine is now Allam Power. :emoticon-0138-think

I'm not sure demolishing the white buildings, to build a car park for the building next to them, will 'result in a positive visual impact'.

I'm pretty sure this is where Allam Marine built their generators before they moved to Melton.

Got that wrong. Allamesque shortening of names lengthens them.

Tiger developments surely. Just think off all those investors they could get from the far east. Don't know why they haven't thought if it before.

You may need to have a rethink, or a word with the Police on their latest guidance.

    CBA to read all that.

    What does it say?

If you mean the use of ‘Black’ then of course that’s a specific subset of People of Colour so I think you’d use that for black people. But if it says not to use Person of Colour at all then I stand corrected.

"What am I supposed to call them then?"

I have a close friend who is mixed race. I call him by his name.

But if someone looks 'different' they're always likely to be asked 'where are you from' even their name might be known.

It's obvious that you would use someone's name if you and the person you're speaking to (about them) knows it but how do you point out a black guy who is amongst a group of people to someone otherwise? Is it really wrong to say 'you need to speak to Charlie, he is the tall black guy over there'?

I've no doubt that people would refer to me as the chubby bald guy. Its a good description of me if you're trying to explain who I am amongst a group of other people. There isn't a need to get hurty over that.

For me it's the context in which words are used which defines the racism. Sticking the C word after black, or chubby bald, would add that element of hatred which is uncalled for. But to say 'that black fella over there' really shouldn't be classed as anything like a racial slur.

It's amusing listening to boxing commentators going to great lengths to describe the differences between boxers shorts, rather than pointing out the bleeding obvious when one's white and one isn't.

At the same time, they don't seem to have an issue talking about The Association of Black Police Officers, MOBO's or Black History month.
