He was outstanding for 3/4 of last season but towards the end was more like his old self, bit directionless, lacking final ball. Just seems very Almiron-esque, purple patch followed by a huge drop off. However, as a sub and guy to have around I have nothing against him at all, particularly as it's clear we're trying to upgrade that area. We need two per position, though, of quality. It's very optimistic but ending the window with Adeyemi as a Pedro alternative, Elanga, Trafford, Thiaw, Scalvini and maybe Amir Richardson would be an excellent effort. We could potentially also ditch Krafth or Trippier, Willock or Longstaff, Targett and Lascelles.
"...but ending the window with Ruddy, Adeyemi as a Pedro alternative, Elanga, Trafford, Thiaw, Scalvini and maybe Amir Richardson would be an excellent effort." Fixed for you.
Why do people keep banging on about Murphy being good as a sub? He'd be ****ing useless there. Great character, yes. Low wages, yes. He has to either be a starter or got rid of. I know my preference.
No problem with Ruddy signing a new deal, sounds like he is doing some good work behind the scenes with the u21's and youth groups so as a youth coach who can take part in our sessions to help the senior keepers and be used in an absolute cluster **** of an emergency...
Haha, to be fair at that point your probably better off blooding the youth players instead of letting Ruddy break a hip slipping on the stairs on the way out for kick off...
So can we not offer him a coaching contract to get him off the books? Sure, he's not on much, but these things aren't doing a lot for the clubs ambition image.
Good luck to Wilson. He did a great job for us and got some important goals. Just a pity his legs looked totally shot for the last 18-24 months.
