Good Morning. It's Monday 7th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Leeds land Gudmundsson

Leeds United are on the brink of completing a significant summer acquisition, with Lille’s Gabriel Gudmundsson having arrived in Leeds yesterday morning. The 26-year-old Swedish international is set to become the Whites' latest signing, poised to bolster a key area of the squad as players report back for pre-season training.

The imminent move brings an end to weeks of intense speculation surrounding Gudmundsson, who has been consistently linked with Elland Road over the past three weeks. While earlier suggestions of him being spotted at Thorp Arch were reportedly dismissed by club sources, all parties have now clearly reached an agreement, with a press conference expected in the next day or so.

Gudmundsson primarily operates as a left-back, a position Leeds have been eager to strengthen. However, his versatility is a major asset, as he is equally capable of playing as a left-sided midfielder or even stepping into a centre-back role when required. Known for his impressive technical prowess, the Swede is highly regarded as a strong passer of the ball and displays a keenness to carry the ball forward, actively contributing to attacking phases. These attributes align seamlessly with Leeds' established progressive and proactive style of play.

With just twelve months remaining on his current deal in France, Leeds have shrewdly leveraged his contract situation to secure the talented Swedish international. The estimated fee for Gudmundsson is believed to be around £8.5m, plus add-ons, representing what could prove to be a particularly astute piece of business for the Whites.

Leeds make giant strides toward signing keeper

Reputable transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported a significant development in Leeds Utd's pursuit of a new shot-stopper in the form of 6ft 8' towering giant, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic!

While fans might be weary of the constant speculation linking Leeds with various goalkeepers, Di Marzio’s track record as a highly reliable source makes this particular rumour noteworthy. Leeds have reportedly made inquiries into Milinkovic-Savic's availability and is well aware of his €21 million release clause, which is only applicable to foreign clubs. This detail could position Leeds strategically in any potential negotiations.

However, the Yorkshire club isn't alone in their interest. Serie A giants Napoli are also said to be keenly pursuing the 26-year-old. Napoli would face a slightly different financial hurdle, with an Italian club release clause set at €19 million.

Milinkovic-Savic has asserted himself as one of Serie A's top goalkeepers over the past two seasons, consistently delivering impressive performances. The Serbian international also has a past connection to the Premier League, having spent time as a youngster at Manchester United.

Toffee's could rescue Harrison from a sticky situation

Rumours swirling around the Bramley-Moore Dock suggest that Everton are nearing an agreement to bring Jack Harrison back to Goodison Park permanently this summer. The 28-year-old winger has spent the last two seasons on loan with the Toffees, featuring in crucial moments despite a campaign marked by mixed individual reviews due to injury and form.

Harrison's relationship with parent club Leeds United has notably soured. His well-documented disdain for the Elland Road club, compounded by comments from his own mother, makes a return to Yorkshire incredibly challenging, if not impossible, for the player. This strained dynamic presents Everton with an opportunity to offer Harrison a much-needed lifeline.

Online sources indicate that Everton are prepared to offer around £7 million for his services, structured over a three-year payment plan. While this figure might seem modest for a player of Harrison's calibre, Leeds are believed to be giving serious consideration to the proposal. The primary driving factor for the Whites appears to be offloading Harrison's substantial £90,000 per week salary, allowing them significant financial flexibility elsewhere. This potential deal could see all parties getting what they need out of a complex situation.

    Morning all

It does seem an eternity Eire but I don't want it to come around yet, we are far from ready when it comes to new faces required.

If we sign this keeper and LB this week that would be good business, I'd really like Anton Stach out of the linked midfielders, it's the striker we seem stuck on bringing in.

There is a huge thread on the Sunderland forum regarding all PL transfer rumours, mainly from Twitter which is as reliable as NewsNow, anyway, what has become apparent, we are shopping on the same shelf as Burnley and Sunderland with the odd interest from West Ham, Everton and Bournemouth so they are all going to be gambles.

Sunderland fans are over the moon with their transfer activity, it reminds me of Ipswich last season, I look through their signings and they're all gambles as are ours. The difference is they are in denial over some of the fees they are paying, I just hope our more calculated approach doesn't bite us and we have nothing left on the shelf we are looking at.

The way it is going for them, they won't have much of a team come the African Nations cup

Finally, if Harrison is really on £90k a week it just reflects again how poor Orta was with negotiations

Let's be honest. It's a really underwhelming list of transfers so far. History will tell us whether Sunderland splashing on young talent v our 'solid' journeymen approach (if that's how it continues) is the right one.

As it stand rights now, the side looks weaker to me than last year, and given we're back in pre-season training that's starting to become a concern.

Hey a few exciting looking signings could change all that. We can't afford journeymen in the key positions still to fill:

    Goalkeeper
    Striker
    10
    winger
    midfield - dm and am?

Stach looks a level that could do a job in the PL... he seems a Gruev upgrade, so would be happy with him if any truth in it.

Radz tried to flog Harrison, and the 9ers stepped in to 'save' him - the new contract it took, likely overpaid

That pretty much sums up my feelings too. Interesting we had our supporters club pre season meetup/piss up on Saturday. Fifty there and there was almost no talk of the actual team such has been the transfer window so far. All planning for matches were attending etc for coming season

There's still time but yeah, it would be nice to get some key positions filled before the scum game.

We need to hit the ground running on the first game. Let's get the squad finalised for a good pre season together.

Didnt the club say we wanted the bulk of the transfers done by the 7th July?
Put themselves in it with that one. Big week for me.

Upon reporting back for training, in recent years the players go to Leeds Beckett for comprehensive assessments at the state-of-the-art facility, which includes health screenings and physical performance profiling!!!

Bamford has already spent almost a fortnight there, working on his conditioning.

He may be a keeper, but Vanja Milinkovic-Savic can take free-kicks too

He won't have done any work yet - it takes a fortnight for them to list all his ailments on the health screening
