Isn't Colback is still with us til end of the month as well? Not sure what the plans are, whether he's been offered a new contract or if he'll be released
Option for a further year. Not sure if it’s up to the club or him to activate. Can’t see him in any of the pre season training pics.
With larkeche coming back and the young Brazilian then I'm not overly concerned there although both are naive and as of yet unproven. A forward thinking central midfielder would be top of my list.
That just comes down to bad luck more than anything. We only played one up top under Marti. I agree regarding Kelman. We need to see what he can do.
Saw this - https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/2025/07/04/west-brom-in-talks-to-land-47m-striker/ Seems the Baggies went elsewhere for strikers
WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THIS YEAR THAT WE HAVE PLENTY OF OPTIONS FOR BOTH RB AND LB POSITIONS!!! Yes, I'm typing that in all caps on purpose. It's been about 3 or 4 seasons where we've been caught short in those two positions due to injuries. I'd like 2 options in each of the positions with players we would actually want to play consistently, with even a 3rd option in each position with promising youngsters in the development squad. So, who do we have right now? Below is what comes up when I asked AI for a full squad list as of July 2025. So, we have Larkeche and Esquerdinha at LB. Both unproven but could be good. I'm expecting Fox to be gone soon and wouldn't want to depend on him anyway. RB we have Dunne. And Adamson, who looks good enough, and who else? Hevertton Santos is leaving us, and was never good enough. Ashby? I'm pretty sure he's been sent back to Newcastle? Anyone know about that? So, looks like we might be ok at RB, needing a youth player to make a 3rd option. But LB we are in trouble unless we sign a proven player. I'd be happy with 1 proven player coming in and then having Esq. and Larkeche as backups. --- First Team Squad Goalkeepers - Paul Nardi - Joe Walsh - Nathan Shepperd Defenders - Jimmy Dunne - Steve Cook - Jake Clarke-Salter - Liam Morrison - Morgan Fox (Left Back) - Esquerdinha (Left Back) - Ziyad Larkeche (Left Back) - Hevertton (Right Back) - Kealey Adamson (Right Back) - Harrison Ashby - Amadou Salif Mbengue Midfielders - Jack Colback - Sam Field - Nicolas Madsen - Jonathan Varane - Kieran Morgan - Elijah Dixon-Bonner - Taylor Richards - Ilias Chair - Harvey Vale - Karamoko Dembélé - Kwame Poku - Koki Saito - Lucas Andersen - Min-Hyeok Yang Forwards - Paul Smyth - Michael Frey - Žan Celar - Rayan Kolli - Charlie Kelman - Alfie Lloyd - Daniel Bennie --- Development Squad Goalkeepers - Matteo Salamon - Conor Clark - Joel Halliday Defenders - Esquerdinha (Left Back) - Rocco Friel - Jake Leahy - Samuel Manufor - Noah McCann - Jack McDowell - Casey Shann (Left Back) Midfielders - Kieran Morgan - Daniel Bennie - Alfie Tuck - Lorent Talla - Alex Aoraha - Harry Murphy - Archie O'Brien Forwards - Rayan Kolli - Alfie Lloyd - Cian Dillon - Emmerson Sutton - Kieran Petrie - Rohan Vaughan
Saito, Ashby, Andersen, Yang, all gone, Dixon Bonner on loan in Sweden. And we still have way too many players so I expect some sales. Kelman if he doesn’t want to extend is contract, and frankly anyone we can get a decent price for.
Certainly more quantity. I feel the narrative will sway this year: When we win- QPR back to there best, buying and developing hungry lower division players. When we lose- If you buy Division 1 players guess where you'll be heading. I'm happy to wait see where this goes, I feel more confident with a player stepping up a division than a foreign unknown taking a year to adapt.
I think Dixon Bonner is back from his loan in Sweden, and Hvererton Santos from Portugal. They are both in the pre-season training clips. But I don't expect them to stay. They weren't in yesterday's squad. Think we may get some money for Santos.
Zubimendi is a defensive midfielder Hoop-Leif. It looks like Arsenal are also signing Viktor Gyokeres.
