Titanium swarf in particular burns like ****. Insurance will make companies that run a lot of titanium to have automatic fire suppression systems in their machining centres.

Your post prompted me to do a quick nosey, not that I didn't believe you.

I used to do some agency labouring in an engineering place down near the Gorbals and had to clean out the swarf from cnc's...It shows you how much of an induction I (never) recieved.

Magnesium, Potassium and Sodium if my GCSE Chemistry teacher is to be believed. Mind you I spent most of my time trying to see up her skirt when she sat on the edge of her desk at the front of the class so I could be wrong. <laugh>

Also I'm not sure why a ship would be full of GCSE Chemistry experiments.....

I run a load of cnc’s, horrible job cleaning out the swarf. My missis would always moan like **** that I was depositing bits of metal all over the house and I couldn’t put my clothes in the machine. And good luck sitting down for a dump with swarf stuck all over the front of your clothes without having any drop off into your underpants. Lucky I have a lackey now to do all that ****e for me :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Think I must have gone to the same school as you - I had never seen things like that before chemistry at secondary school.

Kids normally rush to sit at the back of the class (if they turn up at all).

Chemistry - full attendance - everyone on the front row.

Chemistry and Biology thrown into one lesson.

.....and when she asked for volunteers to go and help with her "gardening " on a weekend she NEVER chose me.

I blame it on the acne.

I had forgotten all about this until your post ST.

Just one comment on here can reignite a hundred memories long forgotten.

This started life as a stir fry but somehow ended up turning into beef green curry and rice.

A selection of 3/16 pizzas from tonight that were particularly good

    1. Plain pepperoni. Proper Italian cured stuff. About £8 per 100g not cheap but well worth it.

    2. Pesto base, proper cured Spanish chorizo and fresh diced garlic.

    3. pesto base, **** knows what else some kind of pork loin stuff a guest brought but it was pukka peng, + fresh basil.

My favourite wasn’t photographed, but it was a selection of cured meats + scotch bonnet chillis, which turned out to be really mild (for scotch bonnets) but still full of that amazing fruity Caribbean flavour. This was most people’s top pick.

Edit: top photo is #3, somehow become top

A sandwich isn’t a proper sandwich without strawberries. A pizza isn’t a proper pizza without pineapple.
