By the time they push people to far, they will have a squad of wonder kid, 21-24 year olds, on 8 year contracts. Even if they got a five year ban from transfers they will be set and ready to go with the squad they have. Basically bar a European ban, they don’t really care at this point. They won’t be deducted points as part of the sleazy six, the transfer ban will be a year or two which won’t make a difference to them. The horse bolted seasons ago when they started stockpiling young players. Any attempt to punish them will be met with threats of joining a super league…
They have just made £55million from the Club World Cup and would add another £53million if they win it. What they have won to date funds £275million in transfers so they are probably still ok.
Everyone is obsessed with psr to the point they want it enforced more and more, but I'm of the opposite opinion. I don't want there being no loopholes, and I don't want it at all quite frankly.
This. There is no evidence that PSR actively protects clubs from financial issues. So what exactly is the point? Have the PL ever articulated HOW and WHY these rules are good for the game?
They use the term 'maintain competative balance' which basically means maintain the status quo and punish anyone trying to compete. Even some big 6 fans don't like it, but plenty do because it's suits them.
It's like a swimming competition when 6 swimmers are given a head start and the other contestants are not allowed to use both arms even if they have the.. Then they celebrate the wins.. It's cringey... Medal number 50 etc etc... Yeah well done you absolute great.
The “big club” debate is also awful. The plebs supporting the established elite never look before 2003 but the sneering is insufferable. There was a little segment on the overlap on City and how they were kind of an “awww, bless” club - hapless was the word used - as recently as 2008. The story of Alan Ball being manager and thinking they needed a point is a good un. Yet here they are untouchable, the punishment for their charges still ongoing with no end in sight. The PL are thé worst for me. They get away with blue ****ing murder. We sit here as fans frustrated by their stance and their silence - yet there has to be some serious people at clubs like Newcastle getting the same treatment, it’s truly bizarre.
The so called big clubs are like a school yard lance Armstrong that's spent years playing conkers with a lump of lead.
That's about the size of the mentality yeah. Then add in the rule that nobody else can do the same because they did it first. They earned the right to use lead vs conkers forever basically.
