Well, once Brook went it was mostly the tail and Siraj did bowl well, took 6 in total.

Weird scorecard, 2 lads got 340 out of the total, 6 ducks!

    India effectively 244-1.

    2 days to play.

    Rain forecast.

Even Stokes' dafty Bazzzball approach can't win from here.

    Can it?

Who knows. Ask again tomorrow, or maybe Sunday!

Whatever they set us I reckon India will still be quietly concerned.

Well done Yorkshire. The only team/club not to piss me off this week. Far too late in the T20 but a win's a win, and the County Championship win was excellent and much needed.

Was there today. Bit concerning our bowling attack to be honest. Especially going into the Ashes. They look poor.

    Smiths innings was phenomenal.

So, what do we think? I reckon India will aim for around 500 with an hour to bowl at us at the end of today.

Yeh, there’s nothing in the pitch. But India’s medium pacers have used the new ball better than we have. I applaud Stokes for the style etc etc, but we can keep bowling first and conceding 500.

The hole Anderson and Broad have left is beginning too tell.

    One up in the series.

India 250 ahead with nine wickets in hand.

    Rain forecast.

We play for the draw and move on, obviously.

That 14 year old Indian batter who hits it all over the place has just hit 143 off 78 balls in an U19 match vs England. :emoticon-0107-sweat

the indian batsman shubman gill has now scored 400 runs in this match. his 269 with the current 143no he has become the fifth player to score 400 in a test.

    1. graham gooch 333+123 = 456
    2. mark taylor 334no+92 = 426
    3. kumar sangakkara 319+105 = 424
    4. shubman gill 269+143no = 412 and counting
    5. brian lara 400no = 400

also, this is the most runs india have scored in a test. (971 and counting).

updates:gill 2nd with 269+161 and out = 430 and india now 998 for the match.

    6th wicketpartnership lasts two deliveries.

india reach the inevitable 1000 for the match with a six..

england are going to need 600+ soon.

for the team runs in a test, these were the top ones before today:
    1. england 1121 in 1930
    2. pakistan 1078 in 2006
    3. australia 1028 in 1934
    4. australia 1013 in 1969

    india currently 1014...
at which point the declaration arrives. england need 608.

we can't win this, but we can make it a draw and make all the indian efforts in vain.#

smith and brook scored 172 in a session the other day, the most india have conceded in a session. we'd need to do that in all three sessions tomorrow after taking 92 off 19 overs today. not happening, not even with bazball.

hoping gus atkinson is back in the team soon.

england start with two fours.if we can keep up this scoring rate of 24 per over we'll be fine.

but no! 3 off the 3rd. but 22 per over is still good.

but a fourth ball wicket, first ball for crawley, is NOT good.

Seems crazy to me they stick with Crawley. He’s no better than all the failed openers that have come and gone.

India really showed us how it's done today, classy batting and vigorous new ball bowling even without Bumrah. We've been schooled.
