ICE deportation timeline is by skin tone... resembling my Eastern European side of the family more than the British side, I suspect I'll be deported AFTER the Mediterraneans but before the Western Europeans. Right now they're still working through the non Europeans for deportation first. (Joking aside, I could be on the list for a technicality- but that's something for a different thread).
Still seeing lots of Isak links... still not believing them one bit. Newcastle DO owe us a decent striker though... we paid for one a long time ago, and they gave us Andy Carrol instead. Given a decade+ of interest payments, I think that amounts up to Isak.
According to This is Anfield Luiz Diaz earns about £140000 per week .Liverpool are not ready for new contract negotiations. Konate's case is more urgent than Diaz's.
If you see Newkie go out and buy a striker... then it might be on. Until then I can't see them selling. tbh it'd probably have to be 2 strikers cause Callum Wilson is a crock who they need to replace.
You're right. They do not want this. Thry are in no position to snag another top striker. Isak was being looked at as a risk when they overpaid for him originally. Everyone else looked last him.
Palace are pricing guehi out of a move. I'd keep gomez. I'd buy 1 cb now for 35 using quansah cash (there's loads to go for) I'd go back in January with a very low ball offer for guehi
And it begins We've now had two occurrences this summer. We had corness turn down a contract.and move on Now issac moran has decided to.just head onto Newcastle rather than sign scholarship forms.
Let’s not pretend that Klopp was some incredible youth manager guys? Slot has moved a couple on but Klopp brought through TAA and Jones from youth team? Quansah became a squad player under him. Who else has he brought through from the academy? I feel like Klopp got a bit more credit than maybe deserved in that respect? Seems like that cup win with the youth players has made it seem like Klopp constantly brought them through but he did it out of necessity. Remember when we had no cbs and he moved Henderson and Fabinho to CB rather than play Williams and Phillips for about 3 months? Klopp sold Wilson. Sold Brewster. Sold Williams. All players who were highly rated and gone on to have decent careers (maybe less so in Brewster).
Not wanting to turn this into a Klopp v Slot academy-off but seeing as you brought it.up. Just a few academy players getting first team debuts under Klopp, listed as a decent team - Kelleher, Trent, Quansah, Phillips, N.Williams, Morton, Jones, Bajcetic, Wilson, Danns, Doak A mixed bag of success, some sold, some established, some knocking on the door but all got at least a chance. He gave 40+ graduates their senior debuts.
Slot has played certain players regularly and refused to pay others or gave little time. Age rarely came into it. He played jones as the option midfielder but refused to play endo or Elliott unless late on. Certainly would very very rarely turn to them to come on if level or behind. He got a dead rubber in the cl and played some kids and lost. He passed McConnell then he wasnt seen again until fa cup and then never again. You are right that klopp didn't trust players and stuck with what he knew quite a lot. Absolutely. You are right that he judged players by ability and allowed them to be sold on. Absolutely. Slot has a job to do and Hughes has a job to do. I would actually rather they tightened up on what is there quite a bit and clean house. Its good in the long term to push on 16 to 18 year olds and pluck them for senior duty than have a pile of older kids who dont cut it on loan or show much when given their chance. If anything we have a very bloated underage group and the first thing klopp did when he arrived was ask for the numbers to be cut.to bring the best through quicker. There's so many poached young players thst the real talent isn't really emerging. Anyway quansah made mistakes, he was quite young and advanced quickly but imo regular mans football will knock that out of his game. He will come on again and has the right attitude to do it. Others like kaide Gordon are talented but like carvalho. Flash amd grab the quick jump up the ladder but dont have the work ethic at all. We should be promoting talent in a focused way not just importing it.
Exactly… The point is Klopp sold off youth players, Slot is doing similar to youth players on the fringes and yet he’s being criticised for it. Everyone was pissed when Clark left last year saying huge mistake, could be great player… then goes to Salzburg does nothing and talk of him moving on again to a lower level. Maybe Slot and the bods in charge with years of football and player development between them have a better idea about what youth players will make it and which won’t and can be moved on.
That number is massively skewed because how many of those 40 got 10 minutes in a cup game never to be seen again? How many of them were in the league cup game when the whole first team were at club World Cup? Getting a debut is nothing. As you say, 40 plus players got a debut, how many of them were integrated into the first team and become regulars? TAA, jones, kelleher, Quansah. 4 players in 8 years? Im not slagging of Klopp btw, but just because he gave tonnes their debut doesn’t mean he won the league with a bunch of academy kids. if Klopp was still in charge then kelleher would still have been sold this year btw.
