Good Morning. It's Wednesday 2nd July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Schmidt's Leeds future in doubt as agent highlights WC ambition Just ten months after arriving at Elland Road with high hopes, the future of Leeds defender Isaac Schmidt is already uncertain. The player's agent, Baykal Bellusci, has publicly opened the door for a summer transfer, citing the crucial need for regular first-team football ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Leeds secured his services from Swiss club St Gallen last summer in a deal worth a reported £4.5 million. However, despite the investment, the versatile full-back was largely on the periphery, struggling to secure a consistent spot under Daniel Farke. This lack of game time has now created a significant dilemma as the club prepares for its return to the Premier League. The timing of the agent's comments highlights a growing pressure point for the player. Despite being overlooked at club level, Schmidt earned call-ups to the Switzerland national team in both March and June, keeping his international aspirations alive. With Switzerland likely to participate in the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, continuing as a backup player is not a viable option for a footballer entering his prime. Speaking to the Swiss publication Blick, Bellusci laid out the situation in no uncertain terms. “Isaac played as a left-back for a long time, and we discussed with the club [St. Gallen] that there was a larger market for the right-back position,” he told Swiss newspaper Blick. “The decision to switch Isaac to the right led to the transfer [to Leeds] and his call-up to the national team. “He has developed, matured as a player, and proven himself with the national team. In a World Cup year, the top priority shouldn’t be to focus on finances. Instead, it’s all about one thing: Where can I play the most games to prove myself? I’m convinced we’ll find a very good solution for him this summer.” please log in to view this image Wober on the move The signing of versatile centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw is set to be the catalyst for change in the Leeds United defence, effectively paving the way for Max Wöber’s departure from Elland Road this summer. Wöber’s tenure at Leeds appears to be drawing to a close, with his relationship with the fanbase having soured significantly when deserting the club in their hour of need . Many supporters have been unable to look past the 27-year-old’s decision to leave on loan following the club's relegation at the end of the 22/23 season. His subsequent return did little to mend the rift, largely due to persistent injury problems that kept the Austrian international sidelined for significant periods last season. While flashes of the commanding form that initially impressed upon his arrival from Salzburg were visible, these moments were too infrequent. For manager Daniel Farke, Wöber's unreliability makes him a difficult piece to fit into the demanding puzzle of a Premier League campaign. With interest reportedly coming from his former club, Red Bull Salzburg, as well as several Bundesliga teams, a permanent move seems inevitable. A transfer fee in the region of £5 million is being discussed, which would bring a definitive end to Wöber's complicated and ultimately frustrating chapter at Leeds United. please log in to view this image New top leaked Images circulating online have offered Leeds fans a tantalising glimpse into a new era at Elland Road, showcasing the purported home shirt for the 2025-26 season. Morning all, Pity about Schmidt, looks like a good player who should have been given more game time last season. Can understand him wanting away though.
Morning all Schmidt hasn’t been given a chance, Ramazani is a decent player who Farke doesn’t seem to rate. Cresswell is wanted by several clubs including Sunderland and West Ham I’m a bit lost as to why Farke allows some decent quality to leave, we’re after Fofana now, bit precarious wanting a keeper who’ll be missing for the African cup
There looks a player in Ramazzani but his fitness and tactical responsibilities were a concern. Schmidt also looked tidy but by all accounts wasn’t showing enough in training earlier in the season, later on he started to get game time but it was interesting that it was higher up the pitch than the position(s) we thought he’d been signed for. He looks slight… I wonder whether they concluded he didn’t have it physically as a full back in English football and tried to adapt him. None of us are there on the training ground every day. We got 100 points. Not sure we can be too picky over who the manager gave game time to.
I got the impression Creswell wanted game time or demanded to leave. is he better than our two new signings? Genuinely I don’t know, but I certainly didn’t think he was better (at the time) than the guys who played ahead of him for us. Would have been good to have kept him in the squad… but we didn’t. It happens.
Lyon's Brazilian shot-stopper Lucas Perri is being hotly linked with us. After being relegated due to financial irregularities, Leeds have been quick to pounce on the the 6ft 6 monster! Lyon are appealing their relegation, which may hold things up, and are still in touch with Angers regarding the highly rated Yahia Fofana, who is available for just £6m due to his length of contract (12 months remaining). Nick Pope would set Leeds back £20m and £100k a week, which seems a little expensive. The other option would be to take Arron Ramsdale on a 12 month no obligation loan. Alfie House told me that he is desperate to stay in the Prem at all costs, and Saints would consider a loan move.
He spent the entire season sat on the bench. Can't blame the lad for having the hump, and not being allowed to go out on loan.
Talk (unsubstantiated) that an offer has gone in on Perri, but why would Lyon sell when they're awaiting the relegation appeal?
Sounds like Sunderland’s transfer strategy is to see who we’re reportedly interested in and outbid us
Sunderland fans are having a great time feeling the players are choosing them over us, they might be, more likely we have several options and we’re not willing to pay over the odds. I wasn’t convinced about Sidiki and I wasn’t totally sold on Habib either, I had to Google/Wiki each The danger is you slowly get beaten to all the targets and waste an entire transfer window or end up with 3rd and 4th choices Sunderland are doing what I thought we’d do, get the bigger fee players in swiftly before others start sniffing The only annoying aspect is we’ve had long enough to know what the fees would be, if we disagreed with it the interest should have stopped there and then and not waste any further time
