Will we do a Nottingham forest ? maybe not allowed this is exiting though and can we get a 20-30 goal scorer in.
I couldn’t care less what we do as long as we stay in the league and look to kick off 7th place, an FA Cup semi-final and European qualification for Forest last season after struggling in their first 2 seasons back up Their fans must be absolutely ecstatic!
Not even Salah scored 30 goals in the EPL last season. The next one behind him was Isak with 23 then Haaland with 22. Unless our scouting network can find a player that no other scout has seen before then it’s not going to happen.
Can't rely on one player to score more than half of our goals. It would be far too easy to stop us playing. The goals will need to be shared around.
This, survival opens up a whole new market of potential signings we already look an attractive option imagine what a year or 2 in the league does for us
Agree. Ideally one in the 10-15 range, a few in the 5-10 bracket and lots in the 1-5 range. We did very well with our goal spread this season tbf.
That's the thing that excites me about Cresswell, I want a British core to our team and he just feels like a Sunderland player He still has a lot to work on, he's still over aggressive at times which impacts his decision making and he needs to improve playing out from the back - but I think he will improve in these areas Think I've mentioned signing Cresswell ever since we got back into the Championship so I'd be buzzing if we signed him I don't think he will have many better offers than us tbh, yes he played well in the Euros but I also wouldn't say he was head and shoulders above others that would make CL club want him. Cresswell is a physical defender and these type of defenders often stand out at youth level as opponents aren't as physical so can be bullied. It's Cresswell's upside that i really like, I think he has the potential to become a full international with the right coaching and I just feel that RLB calm nature gets the best out of him Here's hoping he finally signs
I think it was more to do with playing style than players they tried to take on the big boys in football and lost
Agree re the British core, would lean to cresswell and miller over say Avom and the Georgian centre half for example
do not think we were really looking for a keeper it was just a world-class keeper was available for a decent price so we tried our luck
No idea, but I do know we've had interest in Cresswell for a few years so it wouldn't surprise me if we did sign him
The Georgian CB def intrigues me because of his pace, but I know what you are saying. Just feel a club like ours needs a good British core to it, then sprinkle in some real quality from abroad to get the balance right
I know nothing about the Georgian in fairness just worried too much of a foreign influx could affect the bond in the dressing room, I could be talking rubbish here mind I’m sure we won’t bring in players who are arseholes (ignoring poveda)
There's probably nothing to it, but there's a new flight from Rotterdam to Newcastle and a certain Leeds and Aston Villa target Igor Paixao came to mind.
He will insist we don't have a striker and should be going for some striker who had a worse season in the championship than both of ours last season! At best he will name one that scored similar number of goals but doesn't have anywhere near the potential of Isidor never mind Mayenda!
