No offence intended but both players are many levels above Sunderland. Would be hugely disappointed if they went there when both could be lining up for teams pushing for europe. Also Gomez is unlikely to go anywhere given we only have 3 cbs at the club, 1 is out of contract next year, 1 is 33 abd the other is Gomez.
Seeing lfc have told bayern to go stick their cash. Nice. I presume this story is "confirming" bayern did enquire about him so I guess it is not just his agents continuing to spread stories like barca. He is 28 though so I can't see us giving him the deal he wants over 5 years.
Diaz is an odd one. At 28 it’s his last big contract so can see why if lfc aren’t discussing things his agent would be looking around - especially if rumours that he’s ‘only’ on around 80k are true. Hes def ahead of Jota and Nunez and was 3rd highest scorer for us last year covering multiple positions. Do think if a huge bid came in then prob time let him go and reinvest on a versatile forward especially as gakpo more than capable at LW. With year left though would we be wanting to give him a deal that he wants? If not are the club happy to keep him this year and leave for a free in a years time?
Diaz should show his loyalty to Liverpool; when his father was kidnapped by bandits we stood by him. A five years contract will take him to 33 years old. Three years should be enough for now with improved wages also. No player is greater than Liverpool, if he's that desperate of leaving no one can stop him. Some players left Liverpool and regretted it, of recent is Sadio Mane.
Quansah gone. Genuinely annoyed by this still. Counter to everything the club pretends to stand for. But in the end it's down to slot not trusting him to not make errors so slot has to continue to deliver
Don't think either will be on their way to you. What did you make of Bellingham rushing off to Germany and not willing to give the PL a go with Sunderland?
That's 3 academy graduates in one window. Slot will want to stamp his mark on the team; I'm hoping it's not at the expense of the club's identity. I know I'm exaggerating but it was almost as if, when he first came in, he couldn't wait to offload some of the youngsters. I hope his admission that he didn't rotate enough will maybe see him use more youngsters this season.
To be fair we don’t know who initiated it. Maybe Quansah saw he was 4th choice and hitting an age where he wants to be number 1 (something wasn’t going to be here) and pushed for a transfer. Kelleher was always going to go and would be sale Jo matter who was manager as he’s not replacing Alisson as number 1.
I agree, I'm glad the buy back clause is there but if Slot is in charge it's not going to happen. If it doesn't work out for Slot then at least we know the option is there. Guehi is not all that and will probably cost more than £35M so this all makes no sense.
C'mon mate, Slot has pushed him out the door. He went from back up to Konate VVD to not even if Salah is available to play CB. I'm hoping we kick on and win more under Slot but moves like this add pressure to him.
like you don't particularly rate Guehi and don't see why he would come to be 2nd choice behind Konate . Only thing i can think of is they Know Konate won't be signing an extension and getting his replacement in early in which case might as well kept Quansah .
I thought exactly that. If Konate is off then it's even more silly to sell Quansah. Guehi is all hoof it and head the ball when I've watched him. Nothing special imo.
Gomez can't stay injury free so that's a worry as well. We currently have just 2 senior CB's and **** all cover.
