It was a really odd coincidence that Arthur Wellesley happened to be the Duke of Wellington, too!

Just imagine if they’d come from each other’s home! A beef Wellington still works, but what on earth would a Sandwich Boot look like?

My cloning experiments finally paid off.

I'm so excited, I'm beside myself.

How safe is the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, really? - BBC News

If only one of the claims in this article are true then Boeing are a disgrace. This bit of the article is partiularly alarming:

"In 2019, he told the BBC that workers at the plant had failed to follow strict procedures intended to track components through the factory, potentially allowing defective parts to go missing. In some cases, he said, workers had even deliberately fitted substandard parts from scrap bins to aircraft in order to avoid delays on the production line.

He also maintained that defective fixings were used to secure aircraft decks. Screwing them into place produced razor-sharp slivers of metal, which in some cases accumulated beneath the deck in areas containing large amounts of aircraft wiring.

His claims had previously been passed to the US regulator, the Federal Aviation Administration, which partially upheld them. After investigating, it concluded that at least 53 "non-conforming" parts had gone missing in the factory."

Now, I accept that whistleblowers could be disgruntled ex or current employees with an axe to grind against Boeing, but there's no smoke without fire as far as I'm concerned. The suggestion of defective parts being fitted to new aircraft is horrific any person knowingly doing so or anyone ordering this should get life in prison IMO.

Another record breaking average high temperature for June, and quite a bit higher.
Unsurprisingly I received an email from my energy supplier telling me that my electricity usage was 45% higher than the previous month, as if they are surprised that I am using aircon and fans.
Take a look out the window, Carlos. It’s a tad warmer than last month.

It ain't ain't 'arf 'ot mum.
34C in the shade in our garden in Zuid Holland, comfertable 24.5 indoors. Early morning doors and windows open, fan to draw the cooler air through, all shut and shaded when the temp rose no AC. Neighbours who've kept their doors open are sweltering and complaining. We'll have a drink on the terrace by the lock early evening when the breeze comes in, cold beer in hand now siesta on the sofa next.

I keep most of my shutters down to keep out as much heat as possible. I raise one in the lounge about 30cms to let light in and, if I’m not working in the kitchen, the door shutter only comes up enough to let light in.
The front of my house faces south and the side faces west so I get sun all day long, so need aircon.

We have couple of hot hot days and can stay cool enough, with prolonged heat we'd need AC to.
