I don't get why we wouldn't be interested in getting in on that? If West Brom were close to a deal then he won't be that expensive as a transfer or in wages. It's an area we need to improve in the team, and he is good enough in the PL too so it surely ticks a lot of boxes for us. For him, he knows the club and most of the players and wouldn't have to move, plus we are a good bet for promotion and a return to the PL.
We might well be. We don't know who the other club is and you'd think out of all the sides that might want him, we'd be top of his list of where he would like to go. But if we arent in for him, I can see why. He wasn't exactly great when he was with us in the Championship before so depending on what Bournemouth want for him, we may not think he is value for money.
I'd have Brooks back in a heartbeat. If he's going to another championship club, we should be all over it.
Yeah, I'm a fan of Brooks. Think he would fit Still's system as one of the humber 10's behind the striker better than Martin's as well.
Yeah, not convinced we saw the best of him in a possession heavy RM team, given the way he likes to get the ball and take people on and work on the break. But you could still tell he had that bit of class from the level above. Loved the goal away at Birmingham
I didn’t think he was that great when we had him before. Obviously lots of reasons why from him coming back from a major health issue and playing in a style that might not have brought the best out of him. My dad is that old school fan who follows both Saints and Bournemouth and watched more Bournemouth last season, he reckons Brooks isn’t good enough for a PL side anymore. He was a huge fan of his previously as well, so maybe the fact that West Brom seemed to have a pretty free run at him would indicate that the rest of the PL/parachute teams think the same
As someone who follows Wales home and away - my recent observation on Brooks: - he cant seem to play more than 60 minutes any more -I find him more effective as a sub but fair to say he's an absolute fans favourite whenever hes on the pitch. - used off the bench for Wales he's an absolute game changer. Always makes things happen, positive, speed of feet and mind. -often comes on for established PL players like Brennan Johnson and makes an immediate impact. -I'd LOVE us to sign him as a game changer in tight games/when games open up and think he'll suit Still, who has very much the same playing style to Bellamy (Kompany a big fan of both) to a tee. -I'd be gutted if he went to West Brom!!
The fact he can't manage more the 60 minutes even after 2 full seasons since returning from his illness is worrying. Especially so given that Still demands near constant running from his midfield and fowards. I also don't think we are in a position where we have the luxury of signing impact subs. Unless we could get another loan or a very cheap deal, probably one I'd give a miss.
Martin didn't really play him much, and he didn't suit his style of play. So seems a weird move to me.
I don’t see why some say we are a good bet for promotion. I think our team is worse than the last time in the championship and StIll hopefully will be good but we don’t know. I think the last season we were in the championship we were financially better off because we had sold so many expensive players. Now we’ve pissed away that money
Of our main starters from last time, we're currently minus KWP, Stu and Che. In their place, we currently have Fernandes, Archer, Edwards, Sugawara, Diaz, Wellington, Wood and others. Plus the younger players, like Edozie and Charles, now have more experience under their belts. None of us know what our side will look like when the transfer window shuts. But right now I'm failing to see how we're worse than last time?
