It's proper good, they play themselves and Fassbender is in it and it's how they were formed. Forget all this nonsense and enjoy a top film. Genuinely really good.
Yeah, the real outrage here is some hippies chanting **** in a field in Gloucestershire; the systematic massacre of defenceless human beings in the Middle East is just a sideshow. And anti-semitism or something. My arse.
Antisemitic tropes are very in vogue right now. This bloke decided to play up to that for the bit fame and the Spotify downloads it brings. They’ll get plenty of work as a ‘cancelled’ act.
I have to admit. That I didn't see the Bob Vylan stuff and I don't know everything that he said. But if it was just the 'Death to the IDF' chant, then imo no way is that Anti-Semitic. That is (rightly or wrongly) calling for people to oppose the military machine in Israel that is 100% committing war crimes. And yeah he probably crossed the line in terms of inciting violence. If he'd said, 'Death to Jews' or made a slur against Judaism or pigeonholed Jewish/Israeli people as being the perpetrators, then yes, that's Anti-Semitic.
I’m not denying anti-Semitism exists. Apologies if I appeared to make light of it. I just can’t believe Glastonbury is getting more headlines than Gaza. Never heard of Bob Vylan or those Irish “rappers” until a few days ago, so you’re probably right, they’re cashing in on all the free publicity. Meanwhile, the actual killing goes on.
It's not what outrages me. As I've said since day one, what pisses me off is the double standards we see. Are the people of Gaza grateful for the exposure and awareness they've gotten as a result of Glastonbury? I doubt they've even heard of it as it is is totally Haram, but pretending that they have then yes - perhaps they are. But no other conflict draws the same passion. Not even close. No other suffering people deserve any global attention. Not even close. There are genocides happening in multiple regions. We happily sell arms to despots across the world. Not a peep unless it's Israel on the invoice. It's hypocritical and it's getting very, very tiresome.
Did some weird monologue about his former boss in the music industry being a Zionist. These people are just about smart enough to skirt around it to an extent to get frothing antisemites frothing without going full Himmler. All the Palestine grifters have come out batting. If he had chanted death to Jews he’d have had a fair chunk of the crowd joining in.
If you search back through this thread, you'll find lots of examples of people calling out arms sales to Saudi's highlighting the plight of Yemenis. And criticism of the arms sales fairs where BAE and Thales happily hawk their wares to despots around the world.
Course it gets the top headlines. It’s today’s thing while Gaza has been getting on for two years. It’s also buried some pretty decent economic news- also boring but we can’t be giving the government any credit for the few things they aren’t **** at.
Didn't hear that, but imo there's no need to be bringing Zionism into it. Call out the IDF and Netanyahu's murderous regime, that absolutely should be in the spotlight imo.
I will but it really is like looking for a few needles in a huge haystack. You can't dispute that. Same thing at Glastonbury. On some of the stages all you can see is that ****ing flag everywhere. And not a single artist mentions anything about any other suffering people anywhere. Not a word about the kids who were gunned down at the Nova festival either. I saw one flag commemorating that in and among hundreds of the other ****ing flag. Kudos to the brave soul who went there and waved that. You'd have thought the links between Nova and Glastonbury would be obvious and worth a mention. If just one of those cretins had picked up the microphone and said a sentence about it before launching into their FFP speeches, I'd have a huge amount of respect for them. But they didn't, because ultimately they believe that the more dead Israelis, the better.
