Sorry but i disagree, Blackburn withdrew into their shell and we made all the running and without Robinson and Samba it would have been more, they are both too good for Blackburn.
Sunderland weren't as crap to be fair, although it would have been a different game if Blackburn's goal been allowed.
It´s a start though fella, bit confidence back. We´ll hopefully see a bit more football next week, we´ve played some cracking stuff this season in 13 second bursts, sadly the game is longer than 13 seconds..
Heavy Metal Toon must of thought that 2 teams struggling down the bottom wre going to serve up a classic, that was never going to happen, but what this result will do is give the team much needed confidence. We probably deserved the win on balance, but once again it was shown that we lack an out and out goalscorer. Whickham had one of those games to forget, but will hopefully learn from playing against the likes of Samba and Dann. I was impressed with McLean, at least he can put a tellimg ball into the area, and once again Sess was our outstanding player. Well done lads.
I didn't think Connor did that bad, he held it up quite well, showed a few nice touches and turns. Was never presented with a clear cut chance but put a decent shift in. Nothing to write home about but first game back.
I didn't see it, but i heard the El Classico between Real and Barca the other night was a snoozefest. Apart from the goals, it was constant fouling and falling over. From the sounds of it (as i said, I didn't see it), our bottom of the table game to blackburn was a hell of alot more exciting than 2 of the best teams in the world battling it out. Even a neutral would have enjoyed seeing us attacking and getting constantly blocked by a very good Blackburn defense. The will they/won't they get a goal being a key point to keep them hooked...
It wasn't the best game ever Tashy but I was impressed with O'Neill's substitutions, it's a good indication of his manegerial abilities to have such a good grasp on things so early on - some managers have a team ages and continue to make ****e substitutions week after week. **cough** pardew**
70 % possession most of it in Blackburns half, over 20+ attempts on goal! If that is ****e I will quite happily watch it week in week out.
Fair play to Sunderland. And I'm really glad they won for Billy. I'm getting a bit fed up with the barrage of stuff from Sunderland fans though, especially on Facebook. Some of them are acting like beating arguably the worst side in the league at home is akin to winning the CL. Apparently this win is a 'MoN revolution', and I even have one guy on Facebook who said "the gap is closing. Game on" I have absolutely nothing against the fans who are choosing to stay a little more grounded. Well done on the win. The rest though... dear me.
It's the same both ways Chap and I suspect facebook footy chatter is pretty dire at the best of times... peopled by the same sort of folks who have already popped up to tell us we play crap football (i.e. your pal Tash above) and that our fans booed the team off at half time. They're not representative of fans as a whole and are more about hating and trying to wind people up than the footy.
Chappaz, both clubs have factions that are equally as bad as each other and I just don't see the need to comment on them - that in itself is petty don't you think. Just rise above it.
