I think Hose came from the IOW originally... I was sat at the Rose Bowl today chatting to someone who played against his father...

Also of interest today was Abbott bowling to a 0-9 field. All 9 fielders on the legside... He bowled a maiden.. I have photographs,.. first time I've seen it in nearly 70 years of watching cricket, and many years of playing..
There was also an invasion of roughly150 seagulls who spent some half an hour in the Bowl. When they left after circling the Bowl one was left with the distinct feeling they had followed Hose from the IOW to witness proceedings.. There is so much more to county cricket than having a bad day..

Are you by any chance related to the late great John Arlott?

Well if we can get one more wicket in the next 9 overs we can at least salvage 2 bowling points before we bat.

I hope Surrey live to regret not declaring by now.

All nine sides batting first have now gone past 350, after Essex's snore-fest of a run-rate finally gets them there. Kent and Middlesex could both yet join Surrey and Worcs in going past 500.

And in reply, Sussex are already well placed to get to 350 and beyond themselves.

If this isn't painful enough, this is only the second of four consecutive rounds of the koobaburra ball. Dear lord...

700 up for Surrey and still batting. I wonder if teams know they're not going to take 20 wickets and are making a point to the ECB! <laugh>

800 for Surrey. Nice one ECB, no one wants to see this.

I don't know if it will be us, Durham, Northants or Leicester, but I am expecting at least one side to fail miserably when it comes to batting. Mainly because of how tired they must be after so many overs in the field, in his heat.

TBH I'm not sure declaring at tea like Worcs have done is that good a call. Either declare 45 mins or so before tea or give it another half hour or so after tea. This way, at least the openers have had 20 minutes to take on refreshment, have a rest and get their minds ready for batting.

820 for Surrey. That's the 4th highest total in County Championship history <laugh>

See us getting relegated this season. Getting whipped by the bottom team won’t help. Couldn’t have better batting conditions

It's worth pointing out Worcs were 60-2 at one stage.
