According to Cooper’s latest article, a deal for O’Brien is now unlikely.

 

Is it because of price or he prefers a club he thinks has better chance of going up.

Maybe Brum or Wrexham will pay more or offer better terms if it is them, would not be surprised if Southampton decided on him.

Wrexham are in for him according to Nixon so it's probably partly that.

 

Ah bugger he would have been good signing, but we got a couple coming back soon so just hope we can bring in someone to help out there till they are ready.

 

Anything over 2.5 million on O’Brien is ludicrous. I dare say that money is being used on Barry and Zambrano.

 

Hope so they are 2 signings I really hope the club do.

Posted because a couple of others were on about something Shelvey said to a player a decade or so ago.
He, along with just about every pro & amateur, has probably had 10x worse said to him many, many times (excluding Big Billy maybe), just that we don't hear about it or nothing is made of it when it's the other way round. Thinking otherwise is incredibly naive.
Not that it makes any of it right imo.

 

I don't think thats fair tbh. I'm sure there is plenty directed at non British players that nobody hears about and they never mention it. When we hear about it, it's generally the more serious issue of racism.

Just looked it up. He was 38 when he re-signed for us. And we paid £150k. Repaid that fee many times over!

 

Might be a few Wednesday players leaving.

I wonder whether that's 100% genuine, or an attempt by the club to publicly move on from him to show that they won't be held to ransom over the transfer fee. "We've got another target, he's really good but he goes to a different school."

 

My point being you're just going to kick start a rubbish politically slanted back and forth. Honestly did you expect people to agree with you or call you an idiot for thinking racism is purely about skin colour and not also political and class structures? It was just so unnecessary.

 

No one will pay that fee for O’Brien. Might be one that comes up later in the window

 

If any club wants to spend 5 million or above on O'Brien when he's out of contract next summer then they have far too much to spend
