We’ve had decades of fielding weakened teams in the cups, exiting in the early stages on every occasion. Surely after palace winning the cup and give we’ll have eight less games this season, it’s time to give the fans something to shout about and have a right go at one of the cups. Can’t see any reason for fielding a weakened side this season

I think the fitness impact of extra games is over egged by management etc. Players and fans alike enjoy a cup run and it can be beneficial for confidence (as it can in reverse)

won’t happen though… DF will be bonused/judged on staying up… unless we’re comfortably midtable by January they won’t risk it

Go for a cup with all you have, it can make a massive difference if you win one to both moral (players and supporters) and be a boost in recrutement.
We played Spurs in the EU league cup final last year, we were the better team and scored the only goal of the game (unfortunately in our own goal).
Spurs won that cup, are their fans bothered how? are they ****. It has lifted their spirits and made the club more attractive for possible recruitement targets.
A win is a win and can only be good for the future.

Think any win this season will be good no matter what competition especially for the fans as in reality we are booked not to win many.
A cup run would be nice but nobody treats the early rounds as important sadly. no matter of the opposition we will play a weakened team.

Wasn’t enough for the manager to keep his job though.

    Totally disagree
F**k the cups, the only one worth winning is the UEFA Champions League - and we're not going to qualify for that anytime soon.

Farke has one and ONLY one objective this coming season - 17th or higher in the Premiership.

But our managers main object I’ve for the next decade will be to avoid relegation until club possibly can become an established top eight team. Does that mean we have to write off all other competitions for next decade cos that makes the supporting of a club almost pointless

A cup run may be good for morale, but like interationals, we'll all be biting our nails that no one is injured in a cup game. We need decent depth to the squad for cup games. The top teams can play fringe players (often worth more then others first team starters) and have their usual starting players on the bench if the game isn't going to plan. Can we do that?

We’ll never go for the cups. We’ll play a weakened side if we’re sitting bottom six because ‘avoiding relegation is the aim’. We’ll also play a weakened side if by some miracle we’re sitting top six because ‘qualifying for Europe is the aim’

Even if winning the FA cup resulted in a Champions League place we’d probably still play a weakened side.

    It’s all bollocks.
