Apart from all the transfer speculation we have tenders going out for the SOL extension, new merchandising, new club shop, new ticket office, new ticketing system, new hospitality, new away fan section, new stadium sound system, new seating, new, ah wtf ....

... it's all new, next thing we know they'll be building a new footbridge over the Wear finishing the monorail from Consett.

I was thinking back through my years supporting this club. So many ups and downs. Great times whatever the situation really, just being a daft supporter. It has never been as much about the league we were in as much as being able to love some footballers and the craic. This is all a bit hard for me to come to terms with tbh. £30m players from Strasbourg maybe arent my thing, but I will learn to enjoy it.

I dont think there has been a time quite like this in terms of the off field stuff. Our direction under KLD has been quite remarkable. I have seen better players and better teams, but maybe not a team more committed or together.

The plan from KLD seems so crystal clear. The last time we had such forward thinking was Bob Murray. The Stadium, the training pitch, the beacon. I think that changed our direction drastically. Whilst I would personally go back to the Roker park days in a heartbeat, I am fully paid up sentimentalist and make no apologies for such. What is clear though we lost our way under Short. Throwing money around like it was confetti, without any sense of a plan. Arguably only under Bruce did we have a cohesive tfr policy. KLD is a different sort of animal to Short. All about putting good people into the right roles. They wont get it all right, but you can see the thinking. We probably need to cricle back and thank Murray for KLD being here. I recall he was something of a sounding board for KLD before he bought us. Without the SOL and the academy he wouldnt have given us a second look. It is funny sometimes how things come round in cycles. Bob had the vision and passion, maybe not the money. But he laid the foundations for us to eventually get the owner who we deserve.

Haway the lads. Lets imagine what we can be, with forgetting who we are and what we stand for.

The only time I saw Salmon pants in a bar with fans, was don’t at a midweek game in Doncaster and the cheapskate was accepting from drinks off fans, not the other way around. The rich taking from the poor!
