Has the question been posed about Patto yet? I don’t think we would be buying a keeper for this price for him to play second fiddle.

My thoughts are that Patterson will be sold and we'll bring in a good 32/34yo for cover ...

... Young is good enough for the Championship and should be playing at his age.

Well we are seeing how this model works and evolves, league one young players who would be close to a top flight team for a few years signed at rock bottom prices, if they don’t work nothing lost, if they do we are a better team and we create value.

Championship, repeat league but with better quality kids, keep your good kids by playing them, get promoted while making a profit on transfers.

Top flight, cash in on a couple of the kids, as we probably promised them we would do to get them here, which also makes us more attractive for the next tier of younger, but not kids, players and approach the transfer window with money n the bank.

Always said this was the plan.

The more we can rinse clubs who are up against PSR in the next few days the better. However it definitely represents a cautionary tale. We never want to be on the other side of that equation!

There are so many names doing the rounds today my head is spinning.

mid they are true, and I know we are not going to sign them all, then we are going for it. Just have hope they get the balance right injecting quality and keeping the team spirit at the same time can be difficult.

I can’t wait to see what the starting line up will be for the first day of the season.

    @DougieCritchley
Habib Diarra is a 21 year old Senegalese international, who has been starting for Strasbourg consistently for the last 3 seasons.

Strasbourg's 24/25 was absolutely superb, finishing 7th (their 2nd best finish this Century), just 4 points off 3rd, with an average age of just 21.4, the youngest squad in Europe.

Diarra was a key part of that, starting 27 of 34 League games, and contributing 9 League goals, as many as Chelsea target Malick Fofana and Monaco wonderkid Eliesse Ben Seghir.

He's really creative for a central midfielder: 0.17 expected assists p/90 is only 0.01 less than Anthony Gordon and level with Bruno Guimaraes and Nicolas Jackson
Comfortable carrying the ball through midfield: 61 progressive carries is 2 more than Cody Cakpo
Ranks in the Top 8% of midfielders for carries into the penalty area
❌Not a destroyer type: just 1.3 defensive actions p/90: 9 Strasbourg players made more defensive actions last season

A player of enormous potential, with a lot of experience playing in a top League, as a Jobe Bellingham replacement I like it.

I am slightly concerned that a Neil-Diarra double pivot could be a little open. So I wonder whether we'd look to sign a more natural defensive midfielder too.

    Good luck Habib! ⚪️
