My grandparents were half a mile from the pub, on Lingdale Road.

Who'd have thought it? So many A-listed City Forum stars frequenting the same neighbourhood in days of yore !

If I recall correctly, wasn't there a large East Yorkshire ( "Yakker") Bus depot/garage on Anlaby Road just slightly West of the Northern end of Spring Gardens ? If so, I vaguely remember kicking a beaten up old leather football against the garage doors of the building on Sunday mornings with a local lad when we chatted about City's game from the day before. For the life of me, can't remember his name.

Also, wasn't there a Serviceman's Snooker Club cum boozer to the East of Spring Gardens on the N. side of Anlaby Rd ? My Gran was always complaining that grandad spent too much time visiting ! ( I used to nick a couple of Park Drive tipped cigs from her packet most times I visited. I'm sure she knew, but never said a word bless her. :emoticon-0100-smile

That used to be a police house if it is the one I think it is, Copper Townsend lived there, we used to run him ragged as kids, but if he caught you, you would get a clip round the ear.
