Pretty much my thoughts exactly except for the Diarra and Guendouzi bit. We will need to use the whole squad this season, we absolutely need multiple quality players in each position if we want to have a chance of staying up.

 

Look at how happy Roberts looks to be in that team. Who can say no to that face? Get them all in

 

I agree - don’t want to see us stepping out with 11 new players versus West Ham. And I’m very confident we won’t.

Cirkin, Hume, Neil, Mayenda will all start at the least for me.

If Neil is here he'll 100% start the season. Upto him to keep his place

 

Neil will be captain of the opening game. I’m as confident as I can be about that

(unless he doesn’t sign new deal and gets sold).

 

One last thing before I go to bed. Remember these are all just links, some more advanced than others. If all come off it will be a blinder. We might not even expect them to all come off so are just covering all bases.

And there’s still the chance that NONE of them come off. I know I know, booooo.

I expect to see about 6/7 new faces in the starting XI. If we want to have any chance imo

Hume, Cirkin, Ballard, Enzo, Mayenda.

that’s who I’d be comfortable with in the starting XI myself. Others on the bench and rotating

 

It’s not only the specific personnel that I equate with the identity though, it’s about everything the club has become and done well to turn itself around so gloriously and how it has differentiated itself from most others in the process.

A Neil, Patterson and/or Rigg in that line up would help with that but so too (though to a lesser extent) would a Lennon Miller or a Clement Bischoff.

D’oh I forgot about Enzo. Yeh he’ll start for sure as well. I think we will have no more than 6 starting debutants with a couple more on bench
