When I first made love to my wife she said I was one in a million. I've since found out she was telling the bloody truth.

A double decker bus full of college students has crashed into a river in Eastleigh.

Thankfully that bus has gone into a relatively shallow section of the river but on the BBC site someone has sent in some pictures that seem very odd. Two pictures show damage to street lighting and a pedestrian crossing but these are about 1/2 mile from where the bus went into the river. If the bus caused the damage to the lights (the debris was still in the road when the picture was taken) the driver was having problems a long time before it went through the railings. It sounds like he may have had a medical issue, he and two passengers have been taken to hospital. The others have minor injuries.

A woman walks into the Welfare office, trailed by 15 kids.

“WOW!” the Welfare officer exclaims, “Are they ALL yours?”

“Yeah, they’re all mine,” the flustered mother sighs, having heard that question a thousand times before.

She says, “Sit down Terry.” All the children rush to find seats.

“Well,” says the Welfare Officer , “then you must be here to sign up. I’ll need all your children’s names.”

“This one’s my oldest – he is Terry.”

    “OK, and who’s next?”

“Well, this one he is Terry, also.”

The Welfare Officer raises an eyebrow but continues. One by one, through the oldest four, all boys, all named Terry.

Then she is introduced to the eldest girl, named Terri.

“All right,” says the Welfare Officer, “I’m seeing a pattern here. Are they ALL named Terri?”

Their Mother replied, “Well, yes, it makes it easier. When it is time to get them out of bed and ready for school, I yell “Terry!”, and when it’s time for dinner, I just yell “Terry!”, and they all come running.

And if I need to stop the kid who’s running into the street, I just yell Terry and all of them stop. It’s the smartest idea I ever had, naming them all Terry.”

The Welfare Officer thinks this over for a bit, then wrinkles her forehead and says tentatively, “But what if you just want ONE kid to come, and not the whole bunch?”

“I call them by their surnames.”

Sea temperatures in parts of the Mediterranean are 5C degrees above normal for the time of year, equal to temperatures normally seen in August.
Spain also seems to be heading for the hottest June since records began and the nights are termed as being tropical because they are above 20C.
I have to say that my walks are getting more difficult, not just because of the heat but also because of the humidity.

Interesting article too. I like this bit

“Though humans have been making bread for thousands of years, the sandwich as we know it today is said to owe its popularity to John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. The story goes that he asked his staff to bring him meat between two slices of bread so he could continue playing cards without stopping to eat.”

How lucky that he invented the Sandwich and came from a place named Sandwich too <laugh>
