1 club is blocking shrews path to an auto promo place and we play them away on boxing day. i refer to cheltenham town. today was their 5th win in a row and in style they beat southend 3-0. not only 5 wins in a row but 8 wins in 10 games, losing at home to crewe 0-1 and drawing 0-0 at home to hereford. this is some team that has got better and better as the season proceeds. won 7 at h, d 1, L2. and a home gd of 11 f16 a5 after todays performance at aldershot it will take a brave person to predict correctly an away win! floreat salopia. a win against macclesfield is now essential otherwise town will lose touch. thanks to todays jaunt we are already 4 points adrift of a promo place
Yep it will be an important game. I wish that our forwards would help out in Town achieving our goal.
the forwards should be dropped until their form returns, or they have learnt the basics or both. come on gt dont let the squad go to sleep because of a chill wind, or doeas a shrew hibernate, i think we should be told. with spring watch and autumn watch perhaps it is time for a shrews watch, especially after the shots debacle
We played very well there last year on the day those Wycombe f**kers went to Bury and won! CMON TOWN!
Let us not just assume that Crawley and Southend will keep on winning - one of those could also have a dip in form. From what I have seen of the highlights Cheltenham look the classiest side in this league at present (a similar slick team passing game to the one that saw Bury promoted last season). Incidentally I have just seen a rumour on the football-rumours website that Crawley may be going into administration! This may be complete rubbish but in these tricky financial times any club that is being funded mainly from handouts from its chairman's business could be vulnerable. Has anyone heard anything else about this?
i have not heard the crawley rumour, but it would not suprise me. if true this would put town in a promo place. let us now consider where the threats are to the shrews position from below. i would argue that at least 8 teams below town are a threat, and make that 9 if the creepies should lose 10 points, and this may be a far fetched story burton gd 3 p35 swindon gd 14 p 34 gills gd 8 p32 morec, gd14 p31 gulls gd 6 p31 oxon gd5 p30 vale gd 5 p29 of these clubs swindon and morecambe seem to be of greatest threat, not forgetting the gills. and if the rumour is true then the greatest danger comes from the county of sussex. town have done well to improve their gd. and could do without it being nibbled away by shots and the like. we are 3 games away from mid season and we must not lose further ground on cheltenham, quite rightly described as a class act. floreat salopia
Atcham, I agree that all those sides are a threat and it is vital that we do not have a bad run before the January transfer window opens. I remember last year we dropped to ninth at one point before our strong late run which should have rightly taken us to automatic promotion. With the top three going so strongly this year we cannot afford another run like that. Heres hoping that global warming will keep away any snow disruption bearing in mind we lost two home games straight after our enforced break last season.
if that is the football rumours site where you can post that Torres was seen at the door of the Meadow shaking hands with GT, I wouldn't believe anything on it.
are you sure it was torres, with mancini playing hardball with tevez i understood he had been invited back to gt's unique training sessions. he loves fairbourne and is very partial to rowlands diluted lithuanian sparkling port.
torres is more of a gas type player, like matty h, slowburning and then suddenly whizz bang and the pilot light is extinguished
Why Tevez was at the club only this morning according to the football rumours site. If you don't believe me I can go and post it as a rumour... Seriously I wish no club to go into admin but if they spend too freely and then the person spending leaves them then there is a lot of damage caused. Rushden and Diamonds is a prime example of this situation.
Matster, I agree that 90% of the rumours on these sites are complete rubbish - but it did give me a glimmer of hope thinking it might possibly come true.
i hear they are draining eastville lake to unblock rovers route to promotion. i understand bristol water board are being helped by some oddball called canute
