Fabrizio, and a few other sources, reporting that Arsenal and Partey still haven't come to an agreement on a new deal, and that he is in talks with other clubs on a free transfer. Allegedly, Partey wants an increase on his £200k p/w wages, but Arsenal have offered parity or slightly less. As Partey knows this will likely be his last big contract, he wants to maximise what he can get, as opposed to taking a wage cut. I know this view isn't universally popular, but I really think it's in our best interests to cut him loose and sign someone else. I haven't been as impressed with him as others were last season. We've been loosely linked with Lucien Agoume of Sevilla, who I really like, and hope we can sign. But let's see what happens.
Yeah - I want us to keep him for another Season as he's an important player but £250k/w for an injury prone 31 year old is somewhat risky. On the other hand Agoume or Wharton wouldn't come cheap.
Why am I seeing links to Noni Madueke from Chelsea? Absolutely the **** not. He's a decent player, but not an upgrade on what we have. Go for someone better than this FFS.
Ornstein all but confirming our fourth £50m signing of 2025. Bit of a shame that all of them have been Zubimendi but whatever.
Waiste of money if you ask me. He looks good, dont get me wrong but unless Kiwior is getting sold I don't see the need.
No chance we should be giving Partey a pay rise. He's just as likely to miss all, or most, of next season with injury as he is to have another fairly injury free year as he did last year. If we are honest, his time at the club has been somewhat of a failure.
Worth considering a move for Douglas Luiz IMO. Arteta tried to sign him while at Villa - Although not a strict DM he can play there as well as No.8.
Ornstein reporting on Norgaard now. Wtaf. Maybe he's the last-minute replacement for Partey that we didn't fully expect to leave.
Yeah, Sami Mokbel of the BBC reporting that we're trying to agree a deal with Brentford that is £10m + £5m in add-ons for Norgaard. And that he wasn't initially spoken about, but due to Partey looking increasingly likely to leave, we needed to act fast and get an experienced Premier League player in. As a squad filler, I don't mind him and he is a decent player, albeit doesn't really move the needle.
Seems like the Norgaard deal is advancing rapidly... Also feeds into the news that Partey will be leaving on a free this Summer.
Fabrizio reporting this as news is hilarious to me. I've just had a look and, whilst he has recently followed us on Instagram, he has allowed followed Manchester City and Real Madrid too...so make of that what you will.
Fabrizio and Sami Mokbel both saying the deal for Norgaard is now agreed and will be completed pending a medical. Maybe the fastest rumour-to-transfer transition ever?
To be fair this suggests he’s actually pretty good. Certainly a useful 3-4 year backup DM. fair enough. Zubi 6 years younger than Partey. Norgaard 2 years younger than Jorginho. Collective wages are halved. I’ll take that. now just sign Sesko and Rodrygo for **** sake
Arsenal trying to sign 20-year old Valencia defender Christian Mosquera. There were a lot of top clubs interested in him, so if we do get him, it'd be a big coup. I would still like us to be sorting out LW + CF pronto though...
