Nah. It's amortised across the whole length of the contract. And given the confirmation was only made on promotion, I'm not sure if we get to amortise it across the loan period too. Maybe we can, but that only represents getting rid of £2m of his fee. A welcome adjustment, but hardly a seismic shift.
We wouldn't be in discussions with Nice if the player hadn't already indicated he's happy with the move. That's the way it works nowadays.
It’s mental that if he comes here he’s decided to give up champions league football to do so how far we’ve come from players choosing Charlton over us
Sometimes you have to remind yourself how lucky we've got it right now. This as fun as it gets as a football fan in pre-season I mean, imagine if it had been Sheff Utd scoring that last minute winner at Wembley. This thread would all be about finding players to replace our whole team and competing with Birmingham and Wrexham to do so. This is night and day and I love it. And what makes it even more fun is that I trust the club completely so can just sit back and watch it happen.
Fair, I was chatting to a chief scout and he was saying it'll start coming off of last seasons budget as the deal was agreed and effectively signed then The club will know best than all of us what they can spend this summer They've been careful with their spending and KLD always talks about sustainability so he isnt going to go against that now imo
I agree broadly, and my posting record on here will show that, the club is better ran now than probably anytime in my life and I feel strongly that the club have people at the helm that won't put it's future in jeopardy, that said, none of us are privy to the inner workings of the clubs finances or transfer deals, so it's good to air our opinions if we see something that doesn't seem right to us, again acknowledging that we're not privy to all the details.
You're right, sorry that I pushed hard back at you earlier. I was in a fun bubble and you were piercing it
Definitely trust that they won't leave us in a financial black hole btw. I think we can call that one iron clad. I'm less convinced that they'll use what we have to maximise our return (though still wouldn't say I doubt them) but that is something we can't know till later anyway.
Always good to hear other opinions tbh mate, you and @Frazier the Lion raised your concerns well and it wasn't argumentive etc. I always like hearing others views/concerns, even if I don't agree with them, it gives me another perspective to consider
100%, be some cracking discussions throughout this window but we won't really know how good/bad it is until after the window
We will know about the shirt deal and the Hummel increase coming days. Bet they surprise a few and bet they add a pile to our PSR ceiling.
I still think we're missing a trick not having a stadium sponsor. Nobody would ever use it so nothing would change apart from on official literature.
Bob said in the other thread that Ghisolfi has already started, which is what I had assumed so good to hear.
I'd probably welcome getting rid of the SoL name tbh. Never liked it. So long as we don't do anything as cheesy as 'The Stadium of Light, powered by E.On' I'd get rid of the crest badge too. Hate it
I mean could play it clean and sign up with a company that makes light bulbs… I wouldn’t be remotely offended by a stadium sponsor. SOL has grown a part of us but when it was announced I thought it was ****, it’s not emotive like Roker was. If we can do a 10 year deal and bank a fortunes I’d be all for it.
probably best for everyone if we just park the finance chat and focus on the quality of player can they immediately improve us is the most important think for me. Exciting times ahead for sure
Aye. As has been said we are in good hands and we won’t spend what we can’t afford. If we spend £200million, the club have done the maths. As such, they f we are linked with a £20million keeper, the club know we can cover it without compromising elsewhere. So, Ha’waaaaay the links.
