I do understand the idea of 'zero sentimentality' and massive ambition. Definitely makes me question what we've built as a club in the last few years. Does that mean all the big talk we made to get players to sign/stay at the club is actually bollocks? What does that mean if we do go down next summer? Is that corrosive?
Yeah I’d agree, I don’t think it would make sense to keep Patterson if he’s going to be on the bench. I wonder if we’ve already got a transfer lined up for him. He’d be pure profit from a PSR perspective, wouldn’t he?
They're certainly not, I'm still expecting 6/7 fees around the 15-25m mark with 3/4 in the 5-10 range.
I agree with this. Know there’s no sentimentality in football but there being a core of local lads is something that has made the last couple of years so enjoyable. on the other hand Patto has regularly been linked with prem moves on the basis of being a quality number 2, so he may well be happy to stay
I think we need to find a balance between having the best team and having players grow with us. What I will say though is that if this signing comes off it can put to bed, forever, the idea that we are a selling club with no ambition.
Like I say I don't think we are here to make up the numbers, going to be way more ambitious if this is anything to go by
Certainly doesn't feel like a "bank the parachute payments and hope we can go up even stronger next time" type season does it?
You've done it now! Can't you keep a secret?! Ratcliffe monitors these pages and you've tipped him off, ffs!
Defo means that the £100m is low though. No sensible club punts 20% of their budget on a position that is at best 7th in the priority list
Our defensive record has been decent over the course of the season. We are always going to concede chances (this team finished 16th in 23/24) so will always end up relying on the keeper at some points or not looking solid in certain games. Out of position our structure has been very solid in the main imo. Second half of the season the left side suffered as ELF was shifted out there while Mundle was injured. Just need that additional quality to push teams back if possible and limit the chances they create.
My 50 pence is that it’s hit fabrizio therefore it’s moving. He said Bulka has options but now Sunderland are in talks reads to me that the player wants to come here. this makes sense. At 25 he can be a number one in the premier league. Even if we go down we’re likely to face shots that can make him look good, cement his place as Poland number one and get a move again if we go down giving us our money back makes sense for absolutely all parties but the biggest think is the fact fabrizio is involved now
