Looks like the kind of addition a team makes who’s chairman has stated that he wants to win the Premier League and CL
Honestly, looks like he could be the move we should have made three years ago when Kim Min-jae was available
We're pretty well stocked for centre halves, so I'm not excessively bothered by a small financial punt on this player...providing that there's some serious investment elsewhere in the squad. We need PL/CL ready creativity, goals, defensive midfielder(s) and a left sided defender, preferably one who can play LB and LCB comfortably. Given our dearth of club trained players, some significant level of creativity in building the squad is going to be essential.
Cirkin and KWP being linked helps for the last item on the list, even with the suspicion our being linked with Cirkin is an agent plot to get a contract bump In terms of DM, Sam Tabuteau has linked us with Christian Norgaard this morning
If anyone's got a couple of hours (plus however long the ad breaks add...), here's Kawasaki Frontale's match with Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League from April https://www.youtube.com/live/LKHg-fsDrxk?si=7103fADLFcSWr3Oq He's up against Rapenaldo, Mane, Brozovic and John Duran, which would be a handful for some of our current CBs, and not only is he routinely beating them in the air but his positioning and reading is keeping them quiet for long stretches of the game, which they won 3-2. You can see him organising the defence at frequent intervals, too While the Kim Min-jae comparisons (mainly by me...) are a tad lazy, it's clear that his level is above the J-League and he was surely on the radar for Bundesliga clubs given that's an established pipeline by this point Also worth noting one criticism I've seen is he goes to ground too quickly...which isn't really the case, as the various comps show, but that does suggest he has a bit of a ****ehouse in him given he throws in those tackles knowing he's better than the players coming at him, but you don't see him do that in the AFC Champions League or for the Japan NT
Actions speak louder than words. So far it’s business as usual. Spurs will sign potential rather than the finished article
Mbeumo looking more likely to join Utd means onto the next target- Eze. Really hope Spurs get him and don’t end up overpaying for Semenyo. IMO Semenyo isn’t nearly as good as Eze or Mbeumo
I want to score 20 goals + help Spurs win the quadruple, just to see the looks on certain peoples' faces ...
Sam Tabuteau continues to have a busy day, and also says we're lining up a £68m bid for Eze Just saying, if we land neither Eze or Nordgaard, I will henceforth call him Taboo Toes...
The man spends a billion on one player and some people still aren't happy. I mean, yeah, it's a billion yen, but still...
I know that I shouldn't give a **** about this, but I'm going to comment anyway. The online reaction from our fanbase that I've seen to us potentially signing Eze is weird. Lots of people either saying that we don't need a left-winger or that we're overloaded for attacking midfielders. We've got Maddison and Kulusevski, who's both injured and plays primarily as a winger. We played the Europa League Final with a massive, obvious gulf there. If we want to compete on multiple fronts, then having depth is essential. Eze's good, homegrown, experienced, Premier League proven and can take a ****ing free-kick. Having him fighting it out for a place against Maddison would be great. That he can also play on the left in a pinch is a bonus.
Know your place, granddad. Finishing PL 11th + winning the FA cup will be success. Playing competitively + entertainingly while progressing far in all competitions is pre "Ange-ball" .
Anyone moaning about possibly signing Eze is an idiot. He ticks every box pretty much. For me he will be first choice.
Our fanbase is getting so ****ing weird about players we're linked with at the moment: they want players who can go straight into the team with the exception of any player who fulfills that criteria, and if we're linked to a player under the age of 21 they turn on them immediately in much the same way Bottlers fans turn on any player they're linked with if they're older than 27
