Deserves his own thread. Club legend. Great player for us. We were always a better side when a fit Ralls was in the side. Key maybe best midfielder in Warnocks promotion side. What we could do with someone with the character of a fit Joe Ralls to drag us out of the lower leagus. End of an era. All the best Joe.
He often had his detractors and he did have limitations, but he was steady and one of those players you noticed more when he wasn't there than when he was. He must have had something about him given the number of managers who kept playing him. And Colin certainly didnt suffer any fools. As I said elsewhere, I'd have kept him for his voice in the dressing room and on the training pitch. Not as classy a player as Whitts, but should be held in similar regard. I wish him well for whatever he does next.
I don't recall us having a testimonial game for him? I thought it was still a thing for players giving 10 years service?? He's been an excellent player for the club and we've been fortunate to watch him grow from a teenager into a man, all the whilst giving nothing but dedication to a club and city that he took to his heart. The biggest compliment is that he's treated as one of our own, a home grown player, despite him being a proud English man. Thanks Joe for everything.
It seems like yesterday that I was at Oxford with BfB, when Joe made his debut for City. Thanks for everything Rallsy
It said it was 300 games so maybe a few more scored in the other 100+ games. Left, right and head, with more than a few from outside the box.
I think it's a huge mistake that we've made time and time before. Another stalwart of the club that is completely committed to the cause, sent on his way while the club faces radical changes. Also apart from the fact he could help welcome and encourage newcomers, I still think he could have an issue influential role off the bench at our new level. Anyway, thanks Joe and good luck for the future.
I agree cling. The bit we don't know is what were the differences of view between Joe and B B-M. Perhaps B B-M wanted that role off the bench but Joe wanted 90 mins week in week out. Perhaps B B-M thought Joe meeting and greeting and coming off the bench was an £8k a week role, but Joe feels he's worth £15k. We don't know what was said, where the differences of opinion lay. All we can do is thank him for his service, wish him well and greet him warmly whenever he comes to CCS.
