I think the "superior" bit is a marketing thing due to one of the sponsors. Seems a bit pointless though, most people don't even know what it's a reference to, ha. They should have just stuck with Player of the Match, imo.

I've always been intrigued by this point of view - why would you not want it to be player of the match instead? It's less sexist and more inclusive, and there is literally no downside to it... Can't understand why anyone wouldn't be in favour of the change?
Just don't feel the need to change it at all, its a football match with 11 men vs 11 men the best player is the man of the match.
