I also can't help but feel that they've done our armed forces a favour, somewhat bizarrely. If they noticed the lax security here, then our enemies definitely will have. I don't particularly disagree with him on what he's said here, but I think it's a coincidence. He's just opposed to anything that he counts as a Western government using their military. This applies to his mates in Stop The War, too.
Fair comment. I've been to Brize (not in the last couple of days ;-) ) and (being and airbase with long runways etc) it has an absolutely mammoth perimeter. But it's not indefensible with the application of enough guards/dogs and technology. I suspect that had been skimped on.
