Just looking at the 3 promoted clubs summer windows last season.

    Southampton:

    Leicester:

    Ipswich:
    IMG_5001.jpeg
    IMG_5002.jpeg

All 3 of them did the boring 'buy English' and 'experience' thing and none of it worked. The only English signing for all 3 that was a major success was Delap for Ipswich.

You can make the case that each clubs best signing was from abroad. Fernandes for Southampton, El Khannouss for Leicester and Cajuste for Ipswich and none of them were that clubs most expensive deal. Signings like Ramsdale, Skipp and pretty much all the signings from the Championship just didn't work out.

    23m on Skipp

    18m on Downes

Mental. Top end champ players, maybe do a job in the Prem in an established side, but they don’t keep a new side up.

Do we need to have a quota of English players in our squad? And do they have to be over a certain age?

Succumbed and watched that Bischoff video. Looks class, appreciate its highlights so naturally more attacking but feels more of a LW than a LB, but having someone in the squad who can challenge/cover both Mundle and Cirkin seems like a great option. If could get a cheaper, more experienced LB, happy to be pure cover and we’d be sorted on that side of the pitch

As a like for like replacement for Watsons role, don’t think we could do much better

Squad registration for the prem league is usually requiring 8 home grown players out of a 25 man named squad - under 21 players don’t count towards the 25 man registered squad.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homegrown_Player_Rule_(England)

The players don't need to be English or British, but they need to come through an academy in the English leagues to be eligible as homegrown.

£23m on Skipp man. Makes Jobe look like a giveaway. Leicester really have lost their grip.

They'd presumably want £30m odd for him now wouldn't they?
Just go identify and buy the next Fernandes instead (as if it's that easy!)

Obviously trust the club but would rather we spent a minimal fee up front, already have Mayenda and isidor who IMO will really suit playing against the high lines.

We’ve got a few bob from one though. I bet they’d sell for around the same fee

Whilst I think Isidor and Mayenda do suit playing against a high line, is it not naive to assume the best coaches in the world would allow that to happen? Even if we are underdogs teams will set up to mitigate our threat, whether they seem it small or not.
