There’s about 3 days per year where this is in the top 0.5% of places to live. Going to have a walk through the scum bit of the seafront but do my sunbathing and reading at the nice bit for locals who find that all a bit uncouth.
An Aperol spritz done well is ok. Not my choice but I can see the appeal for hen parties and Canary Wharf receptionists. Prosecco and especially champagne are grossly overrated IMO.
I know Brighton quite well, I used to live there briefly back in the early 00’ies. Basically anywhere between the two piers is for day trippers and tourists. I used to take myself off down towards Hove end by the lawns
Not only the hottest day of the year forecast today, but also the longest... please log in to view this image
Was 34 degrees here yesterday- think we are well on the way to a repeat - pizza oven is out and dusted down for laters...
Yeah it’s not changed. Loads of bars near the old pier full of all sorts of reprobates on days like today. The grassy bits towards Hove are still nice but groups of yoofs gathering increasingly and there’s been a big police presence recently. Still places to go for peace and quiet if you know the area well enough.
Got up and wacked the aircon on as soon as I got up. I guess this is global warming for us. I don't remember consistently hot days like this as a kid, apart from the one year in the 70's that was forever talked about. I hate the heat in this country because we are not designed for it. 21-23 degrees is enough for me.
The world is going to end after we’re all dead and it’ll be places far away or maybe Norfolk that go first so just enjoy it. Nothing we can do even if you meticulously wash out your tins and put them in the right bin.
Got an email this morning about a bank account I don't remember having. Didn't click any links obviously. I think it's genuine though, because it has the ending postcode of an old address from over a decade ago. I'm sure if I had thousands somewhere I'd remember it...wouldn't I...lol I think with various bank mergers it picks up all the old accounts with pennies in them.
i'd ring the bank as you never know after all the interest in a decade will add up ni .........oh wait forget that .
At a swimming gala with the eldest child… it is insanely hot in there… but there is a good pub over the road so as soon as she finished her early sessions races… … 2 pints later, I’m back in the sweat box. Awful. A real skinful coming out of me from last night too… plus a curry.
Just back from band practice. We’ve got a new drummer, he’s a long term friend and musician weve played with before on various cross over projects. He lives down in a beautiful valley in a hamlet with his family who own all the other places. And that’s where the jam room is. It’s ****ing lovely there. Big trees shading the house, a stream running through the middle of it all and a swimming pool fed from the stream with fresh water. Sounds reet posh, but it isn’t. Just a bunch of old hippies who bought these places for 20p back in the 60’s when cornwall was cheap as chips anyway, was lovely to play some music and then have dip in the pool to cool off. perfect day
