Im off to Greece in about 6 weeks. Ive not read a book in years, and every holiday ive had in the last 20 years has been revolved round drink. However this ones a nice romantic little break for me and the other half so id love a good book to chill around the pool. I love a good autobiography from a sporting hero/legend and non fiction I have books in the loft that ive enjoyed in yhe past about Bartley Goram, Lee Duffy and Viv Graham and Brian Cockerill. Also a few book from the Boro Frontline.
Bob Mortimer’s autobiography “ And Away” is worth a read if you haven’t already read it. Also his novels “ Satsuma Complex” and “ Hotel Avocado” have a good time !
For JB Turner it’s the Jon Reznick And for LJ Ross it’s DCI Ryan series no idea why the font has gone like this
If you like humour, I would heartily recommend this.....book 1 in a 7 book war memoirs series. Absolutely brilliant.
Since I lived in Provence and the south of France I became engrossed in books about the Resistance which was incredible. The bravery of people, often just kids, was really humbling. I then started reading about resistance groups in other parts of Europe including Greece. I still have this book but just searched the house and haven't come across it yet. You can find used copies, on the internet for a few quid ... that's what I'd read if I was going. https://www.abebooks.co.uk/9780850362442/Elas-Greek-Resistance-Army-Sarafis-085036244X/plp
You might have already read it. The Far Corner. A mazy dribble through North East Football. Cracking read about our corner of the world and our relationship with football.
The Cato and Macro novels, The Eagles Of The Empire is the proper name of the series, by Simon Scarrow are really good, especially if you like history. Even if not, they can be read as really good action/adventure stories.
Snap! My favourite of his is "Winter Moon", helluva book. "Watchers" is another brilliant story. And I really enjoyed the "Odd Thomas" series as well.
Matty Piper's book is a really good read. It's warts and all as well, chronicles his career and problems with addiction when it ended. I won't give much away if no one here has read it, but we as a club come out of it really well, but Wilkinson comes out as a right c@nt.
