After that nobody would give a toss which one won When me and the wife were younger we used to go on whiskey tasting holidays, up in the Lake District funnily enough but that’s not why we moved up here. There was about 10 hotels and they would buy a full barrel between them, it didn’t have a name just a number, they would be stored away until they were ready. I liked The Thwaites Howe hotel the best as his wife was also a brilliant chef. Everyone would meet on an evening and try all the different whiskies while the landlord would describe them to you. Those were the days.
