You're quite right imo. There's a selling club and a buying club, que sera sera. If there's a £20m release clause, the club need to sell and we're the only club offering £18m it doesn't mean we have to pay £20m. None of these things matter, it's down to the two clubs to negotiate, as you've said, and see what happens. As complete outsiders we've absolutely no idea what's going on with clubs, agents, players, whatever ... ... we just have to trust/hope/pray our club comes out of it all as well as we can.
Tottenham are in line for a sell-on percentage for the player if he leaves this summer, meaning they would get him for a cheaper price, although a buy-back clause reportedly expired last year.” Don't think that is true as this passed last year didn't it
the buy back clause passed but they still have a sell on. So if they signed him for £6m for example but have a 20% sell on we’d have to immediately give them £1.2m back
Spurs need players to fill their home grown quota. Don't think he'll go but if he does they'll need to pay top dollar, even if he only has 1 year left.
I'm pretty sure he'll stay too. Just goes to show what a shambles Spurs are, and if they're that desperate they need to pay full whack.
I guess it depends how much less than 6m they’ve managed to negotiate out of us. as long as there’s a sell on I’m happy as he’s clearly not fancied by Reggie
I'm just going off the top of my head here but if I'm Cirkin, would I want to go back? First time there never really got a look in, yes they're in the champions league but how often would he play in the first team? Stays here and when fit he's first choice left back me. Do a deal on wages and sign a new contract
