Good Morning. It's Friday 20th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Gudmundsson spotted at Thorp Arch

Leeds fans have longed for a truly reliable left-back for years. The days of Tony Dorigo and Ian Harte bombing down the wing with attacking flair while also providing a solid defensive presence, feel like a distant memory. Could Lille's Gabriel Gudmundsson be the answer to their left-back prayers?

The Swedish international was spotted at Thorp Arch yesterday, fueling speculation that a deal could be imminent. The 26-year-old is known for his dynamic play and attacking intent from the left side of defense, a trait that would undoubtedly be welcomed at Elland Road.

But Gudmundsson offers more than just attacking prowess. He brings invaluable versatility to the table, comfortable playing across the entire defensive line and even further forward. This adaptability would make him a valuable asset in the top flight offering flexibility for Daniel Farke. He's also known for his impressive acceleration and accurate passing, key attributes for a modern full-back operating in a high-intensity league.

With only one year remaining on his contract with Lille, Leeds United will be hoping to secure Gudmundsson's services for a reasonable fee. A price tag between £12 million and £15 million would represent excellent value for a player of his caliber and versatility.

£25m for McAtee- surely a no brainer

Leeds have identified the playmaker role as a key area to strengthen this summer. The loss of Georginio Rutter just before last season's campaign kicked off, left a significant void in midfield creativity. Although Aaronson stepped into the void, his contribution was always expected to be a short-term fix rather than a long-term solution.

Among the top targets for Leeds this summer is James McAtee, the promising 22-year-old midfielder currently with Manchester City. The England U21 captain has been on Leeds’ radar for some time, with the club previously trying to secure his services on loan during the January transfer window. His creative flair and vision on the ball make him an attractive option to fill the playmaker void at Elland Road.

However, the situation around McAtee’s future remains uncertain. Last season, he featured sparingly for Citeh, making only several Premier League starts. Despite this, Pep Guardiola appears keen to retain his services beyond next summer when his contract runs out, though will not stand in his way if he wants to leave. This was seen previously when Kyle Walker was allowed to join AC Milan on loan under similar circumstances.

This standoff has understandably drawn attention from several top-flight European clubs eager to secure McAtee’s signature. For McAtee, the prospect of moving away too far may be less appealing. Leeds could offer him regular first-team football in the Premier League — a crucial factor for his continued development.

Buzz of optimism around Elland Road

There's a palpable buzz around Elland Road, and for once, it's a buzz filled with a sense of excitement and optimism. The early completion of several transfers, (and various others on the waiting list) is a breath of fresh air for Leeds fans, especially after years of navigating the turbulent waters of late deals and protracted sagas. It begs the question: is this newfound efficiency a direct influence from Red Bull's involvement?

The Elland Road rumour mill has been working overtime this summer. While some speculation is undoubtedly the product of journalistic license (they know who they are), the underlying feeling in West Yorkshire is that something significant is unfolding. This stands in stark contrast to the recent past, marred by drawn-out takeovers, agonising waits for managerial appointments, and a desperate scramble for last-minute signings, which rarely go well!

The frustration of missing out on key targets because of protracted negotiations or uncertainty surrounding the club's future has been a recurring theme. This season, however, the early transfer activity suggests a deliberate attempt to break free from that pattern.

Red Bull, known for their data-driven approach, scouting networks, and swift decision-making have undoubtably made a difference. Their footballing model emphasizes efficiency and forward-thinking. If this philosophy is being integrated into Leeds United's transfer strategy, it could be a game-changer. For now at least, it feels like full steam ahead....

    Morning all

Are we expecting a double signing today?

    I wouldn't pay £25 million for McAtee
£15 million but not £25 million.

    Morning all,

Gudmundsson is exactly what we need.

    He’d be an excellent signing.

not seen anything of gudmundsson but he's FLFLFB

from what i understand he's considered an attacking left back who likes to charge forward in transition... but no assists last year... ah well can't have everything <cheers>

Into his last year contract wise so presumably he'll be competitively valued.

Morning all. Great post. Loved Ian Harte but not sure “bombing down the wing” is a term I’d associate with him.

Gudmundsson sounds promising and you'd hope we are getting him on the cheap. Buendia keeps getting mentioned between £20m and £30m and for that figure I would prefer McAtee - That doesn't mean I feel it is good value, the other nagging thought is we don't have much luck when taking those who Man City no longer want and they rarely get it wrong.

I look at his stats page though and at 22 years old he has 48 PL appearances under his belt (no doubt many as a substitute) and an impressive 12 goals, we are looking at strikers with a worse goal record

Minor details held up the announcement of Bijol. Documents signed, medical done. He has signed a 4 yr deal at Leeds with an option to extend for another 1 year.

Anyone we're linked with a dead ball specialist? We've been poorly served in that role for a while (one where Ian Harte's name does fit).
