My god we have wasted so much money on some forward lemons. Delgado, Sulemana, BBD, to name just a few
Would be nice to know we have Ramsdale if we do go straight back up, but it would leave us in a difficult position of what to do this season. We know Baz isn't good enough, but we wouldn't want to spend much if Ramsdale is only out on loan. The article says it depends on other player sales, give me another year of Fernandes any day over Ramsdale only going out on loan.
If (and I know it’s a big if) we can keep hold of Matty for one more season I’d be happy with McCarthy tbh if they could sort a loan out for Rambo. Maybe loan with an option if we don’t go up.
I'd be surprised if we kept Fernandes and only loaned out Ramsdale. I think the only way we could do that financially was if we got huge money for Dibling.
I thought this when the loan was initially rumoured. Think it would mean we would either stick with McCarthy/Baz or have to loan a keeper in for this season Think most would be happy with one of those approaches if it meant we have Ramsdale if we do go straight back up
I suppose it's not impossible if most of Sugawara, Bednarek, Archer, Aribo, BBD, Bella-Kotchap, THB all go and fetch decent money and we feel can be replaced more affordably/from within. Expect us to have a leaner squad next season and can easily see that lot plus Dibbling and rhe 2 or 3 we know are off brining in £150m+ total.
Good luck to him, got the talent but maybe not the brain. Was said about another winger who went to Atalanta and then was in the top 15 for the Ballon D’Or a couple of years later so hopefully Sulemana can have some of that success
I do think he has been scape-goated a little. He undoubtedly wasted a ton of money on panic signings, but he has a good track record and has done really well since taking control at Goztepe.
Lookman, was at 3 average PL sides before joining Atalanta and excelling. Not saying Sulemana will reach those heights but a fresh start is probably what he needs. Showed he has the ability in a few games, needs to be more consistent and improve his decision making and maybe that comes with time/fresh start.
I can’t remember what video it was but I saw one where there is analysis on “successful” transfers. HITC sevens I think. Granted it’s subjective but the percentage is something like 30-40%. So unsuccessful panic signing are not exactly unusual
Yeah, I don't think Sulemana is nearly as bad as some here think but he needs a fresh start and this is a good deal for all parties.
The one blessing about us being so far gone by January this season is that money was saved for this summer.
