This sounds really positive and I trust your view on it.

I've not really got much of an idea how the details of this stuff work, but is it not a little late for him to come in and be heavily involved in this window? He won't have seen enough of our players and presumably he's not seen much of our data or scouting network. Is this going to be one of school transfer windows where we're trusting this guy based off his contacts and network rather than the clubs data based models?

This seems to be a move to help reduce KS workload and it's likely that Harvey will work with Ghisolfi in recruitment leaving KS to concentrate on matters concerning players who are already at the club. KS has said in the last few days he's been bombing around Europe, when there are significant contract issues, we've still not had any announcements on,here at home.
As we grow as a club into the PL,it looks like a very shrewd move to me.

i wouldn't have thought it would take that long for KS,SH and RLB to bring him up to speed with where we are in our squad build. He may also bring some oven ready ideas in support.

I reckon we will still see the benefit this window from improved negotiating, decisiveness and ability to get deals done. This isn’t a dig at Speakman, more a reflection on having somebody doing the deals who has the contacts and the experience on a global stage

L’equipe reckons we were talking to him for a long time so plans probably already in place for his arrival

I never get the excitement over these kind of signings, if he opens his book of contacts and players then every other coach will open the same book.

We’ve all seen how it works on our transfer pages, agents run the show drumming up interest and if you haven’t got players already firmly in your sights then the boat is already sailing and you need to jump on quick.

Indeed. Change always brings with it excitement for new possibilities but it also brings concern. What does this mean for Stuart Harvey for instance? New people, new relationships. It may not work as well as it has to date - and we may lose talent in the process. Guess we just hope for the best outcome - and that this is considered the natural evolution by all at the club rather than an indictment of how we’ve operated to date.

FG will know every player in Europe worth signing anyway. It will take him all of 2 hours to be told which positions need strengthening and to identify players to fill those voids that might be available.

We’re shopping in the same markets as Roma and Nice were anyway. It’s not like he’s coming in from somewhere completely alien

our excitement is that less than 5 years ago our DoF was a chap who used to be assistant manager at Eastleigh and was doing a favour for his mate. And now we have this guy. :D

Absolutely. I think it will be interesting to watch speakmans reaction to it all TBH. Had his own way on essentially all matters to this point..

Having very good people running the club in whatever capacity can only be good news, particularly relevant to us,as we gradually erase the pain of the Short era, when there was nobody with an ounce of competence running the club.As other clubs have discovered, the quality off the field can often be as important as the quality on it.

He doesn’t sound that good mate

They believe that tensions were lingering at the club due to the situation of Mile Svilar, whose contract situation was being delayed. While the farewell took place by mutual agreement, the goalkeeper’s renewal proved to be the last straw for the Friedkins.

The newspaper claim that Ghisolfi had a strained relationship with many agents – including those of Alexis Saelemaekers. The ownership wanted to cash in on the sale of Angelino and the failure to do has fallen on Ghisolfi’s shoulders.

More than that, there were issues regarding the renewals of many Primavera players. These issues emerged in a clear video call involving the parties and the Friedkins learned that only Claudio Ranieri’s intervention was making sure of Svilar’s renewal.

A solution was reached early in the morning and CFO Lorenzo Vitali was the one to show Ghisolfi the door, with Ricky Massara in pole position to replace the Frenchman.

It definitely seems his time at Roma wasn’t brilliant but his history predating that is nothing but positive

From what I've read this really strengthens the recruitment team, we appear to have the best of both worlds now, Speakman and his academy UK based expertise and Ghisolfi with his European experience.

This is getting very exciting, feels like we are going to have a proper go at this
