Hi all. Several people have commented the transfer window thread is a bit too busy and hard to keep track of. I really enjoy the thread and don't think it should change, but I do agree it's hard to keep track.

So I intend to keep this opening post up to date with player links, based off positions, with links. Will edit it periodically each day.

It might take me a while to get it fully updated so please reply below with any I might have missed. And please lets keep this thread to purely Sunderland linked players.

Add Reinald, Toffolo, Merlin to the fullbacks i'd say

    Caleta-car for centre backs maybe?

To be clear I don't suggest this replaces the transfer thread, people should continue to post in there exactly how they have, including Sunderland links. I'll just update the opening post as they come through

    From the Northern Echo:

SUNDERLAND are close to agreeing deals for two of their fringe midfielders, with Pierre Ekwah and Milan Aleksic both set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer.

Ekwah is set to join St Etienne on a permanent basis, having spent last season on loan at the French club, while Aleksic is poised to complete a season-loan switch to Serbian side Partizan Belgrade….

Sunderland received a loan fee of around £1m (for Ekwah) with the French mediareporting that a deal was in place for a potential £6m switch this summer.

It is unlikely that St Etienne would be able to afford that as an up-front fee following their relegation to the second tier, but with Regis Le Bris adamant that Ekwah does not have a future at the Stadium of Light, the Black Cats hierarchy are understood to be willing to discuss a possible compromise deal.

An initial round of talks have taken place, with St Etienne boss Eirik Horneland adamant he wants to keep Ekwah within the squad. “I would also like to exercise the option to buy Pierre,” Horneland is reported to have said in the French press.

West Ham United are due a portion of any fee as part of the deal that saw Ekwah join Sunderland from the Hammers’ academy ranks in January 2023, but the Black Cats are still set to bank a considerable profit for a player who last played a league game for them in May 2024.

Aleksic has also struggled to make his mark on Sunderland’s first team since joining from FC Radnicki last August, but the Black Cats are not yet ready to write off the 19-year-old.

Le Bris does not feel Aleksic is ready for Premier League football next season, but while Sunderland have received expressions of interest over a permanent deal for the teenager, they would rather send him out on loan next season to see how he develops.

Partizan Belgrade have offered Aleksic a route back to his homeland, and a loan deal is understood to be on the brink of being agreed. Partizan are hoping to complete the transfer relatively quickly as their season begins with a Europa League qualifying game against AEK Larnaca on July 10.

Good price for Ekwah I think. Sure West ham have a big % though. Think it's a bigger one than Bellingham.

Whatever fee it is will be welcome and it’s a good start in getting the squad into shape.

Cheers for the thread @Southern A. Saves me looking through 10 pages after work and getting my hopes up with Twitter links to see it’s another Chelsea target:emoticon-0102-bigsm do enjoy that thread too.

Good to see Ekwah moving on swiftly. Not sure if the aleksic move is one is of went for (would rather be closer to home) time will tell if it’s another bennette or someone who will make it here.

That's how I see it tbh.

Being blunt, the financial side of it all is really none of our business.

There comes a point when paying another year's wages, in the hope of improvement or a bigger fee, becomes infeasible ...

... and virtually impossible to get a player in the shop window.

think with each window the prices will just go insane,

and I can see less and less transfers being made,

clubs will probs focus more on home grown talent over buying in, or buying babies ( not actual babies but at this point in time probs will be babies) and place them in youths,

Established English players aren't generally worth buying imo ...

... too expensive and will see Sunderland as a step down.

We couldn't afford to buy players with the quality we now have.

And they seem to have poor attitudes from what I've seen.

Cannon looks as though he thinks he's better than he really is ...

... has the look of a Connor Wickham's about him.
