I used to enjoy the whole league and watch loads of games but now it's like you say I watch Liverpool and that's it, no interest in the rest of it.
not many games I will watch outside of Everton on the TV. when the CL was on ITV then maybe a game or two. But not going to watch Leeds v Burnley on a Sunday at 2pm, just no interest anymore. Plus kids will have Bluey or something else on the TV.
I think there's a whole new generation of football fans based around social media who just watch loads of highlights from around the world and know the stats of all the big players. They in turn think they know the next big player and want to be the next Social influencer who gives out the big news. I imagine these people love VAR and FFP and get over excited by the smallest of rumours. I'm pretty sure that most of them will be the nerds who never got to play football as kids.
That has also seeped into the game itself, especially here because the PL is all about stats and that’s how some clubs recruit players. Managers/clubs buy players that can play ‘systems’, once you move them about, change system and they fukt, same player looks ****. All the flair is drying up…Cole Palmer types are rare imo, free flowing and just play the game because they love it. Foden another example…very good the season he was allowed to roam in attack, stick him on the wing and he can’t get a game…they getting told even what lines to pass in…straight, sideways, whatever. The PL sells itself through this statistical bullshit and now it’s just a product. If we want flair and fire like back in the old days you usually have to watch South American football etc where technology and money isn’t so much king as here…imo.
Nah, PL isn't to blame for stats, that's crept in to pretty much all professional sports over the last 20 years, blame the Oakland Athletics and 'Moneyball' for that.
Spot on. It’s like when rival clubs mocked Spurs for finally winning a trophy because Champions League dropouts didn’t enter Europa. Couldn’t give a ****, just glad to see Son lift that trophy
