as if there’s no prem football at all infaxt they’ve proper dumbed down the Christmas period with essentially one midweek game
Fixture list looks bare, think i've just got used to playing 2 games a week now it's going to be hard to adjust to playing just 3 games a month some months. Quick start could be crucial here, that's a friendly opening few months by PL standards. Need to average 4 points a month to get to 40.
Ironically in January we play the 4 same teams plus Spurs as the opening 4 fixtures, and that will still be AFCON I think? Will be crucial we aren’t missing key players for them.
Think its important not to get carried away and we have to be realistic. I think there's a decent chance we could be top by mid October In all seriousness though, December is really tough but other than that the other months gives us opportunities to make up points here and there. So excited man, just going to enjoy it for what is is and hopefully we'll have a nice surprise with where we end up in May.
We have to beat Leeds and Burnley home and away, it’s a mammoth task, the reason saying we have to beat them is I highly doubt a prem team is going to have that bad a season and finish on 30 points, we need those 12 points.
The fixtures look well balanced out apart from Dec/Jan which looks tough. In truth they will all be tough but seeing them in the hard light of day there are chances to get points in a lot of places we just need to find the way to do it, and RLB has always managed to work opponents out and manage his team well. It may not be pretty at times, and even frustrating for us supporters, but I will be happy as long as the effort is put in every week to try and upset the pundits and bookies who continually write us off.
We can’t shank the start or we chasing our tails so we need the business to start asap. Rigg new contract on his birthday be a good start.
Whole season looks daunting. But then again the whole season should be seen as a free hit. Last time we were relegated was because we were a basket case of a club from top to bottom, it was embarrassing. This season if we are relegated, it would probably be largely due to the gulf in quality. We could get the best signings we could hope for, try as hard as we possibly could on the pitch, the manager get his tactics spot on, and we still could be comfortably relegated. Initial aim is to get pass 20 points. Pass that I'll be content. Anything extra will be a bonus. Even if/when we are relegated, we will be in a lot better position than we were at the end of last season after Beale. So I will still see this as progress.
