    No archaeological digs
    No wildlife welfare studies
    No greater crested newts
    No swampy

Fire up the bulldozer and get on.

Expected announcement today, the new shorter version of HS2 is not going to be completed by the already extended due date of 2033.

No surprise, it's the biggest infrastructure project in Europe, bound to overrun, she'll blame Liz Truss.

It will probably contravene the no politics rule to express an opinion on who is responsible, so I won't.

Suffice to say that the whole thing is a national scandal; one for which no-one will be held accountable.

    Absolute ****ing disgrace.

Originally planned to go as far as Leeds and Manchester and due for completion in 2026. They decided to only go as far as Birmingham and extended the build time to 2033 but can't manage that either. The cost has risen by 10s of billions and no finish date announced.

It's not for me to apportion blame, tax payers money is wasted on many things that don't result in improved infrastructure and job creation. I was more interested in the civil engineering and watching the HS2 Ltd youtube videos of the new green tunnels and new stations at Old Oak Common and Curzon Street having been involved in large engineering projects myself.

It seems it's going to be at least another ten years before HS2 is operational.

£100b to knock half an hour of the time it takes to get from London to Birmingham, it makes the Sink signing look like a good deal.

Gutted the eastbound is involved , I work in Wakefield / Batley area quite often and don’t get paid travel time so I get there when I get there . Delays going westbound don’t bother me too much, but don’t need them coming home <laugh>

HS2 is not entirely incompetence , the London based pigs have their noses in the trough again that probably included ministers and civil service, kwangos formed of their mates who know f*** all about Civils but a lot about handling money . The Tories are famous for it and I guess Labour will prove the same over time , The financiers involved will have rubbed their hands .

Reading this it has been a shambles and a money pit since Gordon Brown announced plans and set up a committee whose sole raisin d’etre was the existence of the plans Despite all the reservations from more knowledgeable people
Cameron and the coalition government ploughed on when they were in power.
The whole thing reads one a Whitehall, as in a Brian Rix one, farce.
